USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Son just committed to Harvard and confirmed the transfer of his NROTC Scholarship from Princeton (NROTC Rutgers) to Harvard (NROTC MIT).

He will not be reapplying to USNA.

Best of luck to USNA ‘28 & NAPS ‘25/USNA ‘29!

Semper Fidelis & Beat Army!

That’s an incredible alternative! Congratulations on the commitment. Your son must be extremely impressive!

Are you waiting on a decision also?
NavyMom0502 - no, our youngest is a plebe. I have been in the forums as I have a dear friend's son who has been waiting to hear from USNA for 2028. I have two other kids who graduated USNA 2020 and 2021 and are in the navy and marine corps, respectively. I should not say this but I have had kids who chose other schools over ND (including the USNA 2027) and it always made me a little sad - really wanted at least one of my kids to go to ND. Maybe one of my grandbabies will land there!

You’re trespassing … get off my Yard!!

Honestly I just showed that post to my son --- he felt vindicated. His turned down email suggested him taking calculus I,II, III in case to reapply -- obviously USNA never read his transcript -- he did Calculus BC as sophomore, Multivariable Calculus Differential Equations as junior, now as a senior he is taking Complex Analysis, Linear Algebra.

SAF is probably better than the rest of the picture. Chances are, if you stumble across this forum and you are active within it, you are more proactive with your admissions (you care more than the average joe..) and the fact that no one on this forum has posted about an appointment is absolutely insane.
You call it proactive I call it obsess … look at me I don’t even have a candidate!! But I’m here 😂

My oldest three went to ND, fourth is at USNA. The Lord's plan is different for each.

Well … if your DS/DD can do this … an appointment is assured …

You are kind to say that. It’s hard to watch every year. I think disappointed candidates and parents go through the stages of a mini-grieving process. It hits people different ways.
I imagine it must be so hard, year after year.

As a family living through the TD last year, in many ways there is nothing mini about the grief for many. For the applicants the TD hits on so many different tender points and has the potential to alter their future in a big way, depending on what they choose to do next. Really big stuff at 18, for sure 🥺

Hi all! I want to give a shout-out to every single person on this thread! I have been watching and experiencing all the emotions with you. I just want all the USNA people (hopefuls and otherwise) to know that you ROCK! There is a thread just like this for the other SAs, and those threads don't even compare with the heart and personality of this thread. This is how I know USNA is amazing! The USAFA thread has 790 comments, USMA has 552 (as of a few minutes ago), and this thread has a whopping 3,840!!! That's passion . . . or obsession . . . or both! :p My DD accepted her appointment to USMA, but I can't wait to see all the amazing Navy people at the Army/Navy game. 🏈
Congrats to your DD
Army is amazing, enlisted, from WP and from every other source She’s going to do amazing!!! Also WP is such a beautiful place
See you in December!!

USNA can't handle the best of the best --- not like USMA !
I understand you are hurt, I would be too, having your kid rejected is painful to parents more that it is to them Your kid is the best of the best for you, my kid is the best of the best for me. Mistake or not, USNA has been doing this for decades with a very narrow margin of error., and so is USMA. I respect their process
He was just not the right fit, or maybe no the piece to complete the Class of 2028 puzzle. That does not mean he’s not amazing and USMA saw that in him
Your DS is going to do great in USMA, that is what God had for him. Enjoy that, immerse yourself in the moment, be proud and move on. Best to you mom

Wow on the math! Your son is certainly gifted and he will do great things with these gifts. But I also believe that USNA did in fact review his transcript and that informed the final decision. The form letter they use does not apply to your son's situation, but admissions cannot be expected to compose a personalized message for each applicant. I doubt there is a competitive school in the nation that would do this. I know this moment hurts for you as a parent but you have a bright son and your positive support for him is what he needs now, not negativity and your implying that he didn't get a fair look.
