Where are you from that they have a hard time filling slots? Obviously if they do, I would assume sharing the wealth will not be an issue and would expect at least 2 MOCs.
I would check with Auburn, plus, if he goes AFROTC, that will not be the situation due to the system. He would need SFT and that occurs sophomore yr summer, so on the best scenario to be commissioned it will be 3 yrs. AFROTC scholarship is like the AFA, they utilize it as a manpower needs tool, and if he gets HSSP he would be expected to commission 2016. They have Lead Labs and their own path for meeting the SFT board.
Traditionally, kids can enter with credits, and test out of required classes, but believe it or not colleges are businesses. They have little fine print regarding class mandates. Usually it will be a course(s) that they must take at that college for the major. The class usually has a pre-req, and is only offered 1x a yr. Hence, you may have the credits to enter as a jr., but because the major has this, you now are stuck staying. DS is walking out with a dual major, a minor and a core concentration because he entered with so many credits on top of interning on the Hill, plus ROTC.
DS did jump start (attend CC 1/2 day, HS 1/2 day), and had almost every AP you could think of, I believe his college gave him 33 credits. He still didn't graduate early, will graduate 2012. His major required X classes with Y pre-reqs. that must be taken at the school. All it did was allow him to opt out of the 250 kids class size and go into smaller class sizes for upper classmen.
Again talk to admissions, it varies school to school, and the det too.
Our DD, not ROTC entered with 16 credits, she too jumped into smaller classes, but will not graduate early because the school rigged the semester for her major and req. courses being offered only 1x a yr. with pre-reqs being offered 1x a yr.
