If my DS gets a TWE - I will not think he has failed.
No one thinks you have failed.
You have not failed. Don't listen to anyone, not even your family, not even your parents, who tries to tell you you are a failure. Getting a TWE is just a step in the process.Unfortunately my parents are thinking the opposite. It hurts that they're not giving sympathy. Made me cry. Still hopeful for Prep School. That would be a big relief.

You can be offered the USAFA Prep School, a Falcon Scholarship, or you can attend prep on your own (a Freeagent). These are all opportunities that you can do. I have said this many times on this forum - Prep school is a really good thing. A year of academics and emotional/physical maturity is invaluable. Keep looking for opportunities, this process of appointments are not in your control. Executing a Plan B or C is. Good Luck!
My TWE came on March 31st last year and my Falcon letter came April 27th. Just to give you a time frame. But Flieger could be right, the Falcon letters may be going out now.Thank you. I'm really hoping I can get prep school.

I want to send my understanding of the heartache for those of you who received the TWE's. I know that your desire for this is like my son's desire, and there is no doubt in my mind that you all deserve a spot at the USAFA. Every single one of you has impressed me with your tenacity, your drive, your talents, your GPA's, your academic accomplishments, sports achievements, scouting achievements, extra-curricular activities etc. It really is sometimes a combination of factors that nobody can describe or define, when a candidate receives that offer of appointment. So many are truly worthy, and there simply aren't enough openings. However, I have never witnessed so many outstanding and remarkable young adults as all of you who have posted on this website over the past many months. You have blessed me, encouraged me, uplifted me and even brought laughter to my soul. I am so proud of all of you, as I am sure your parents, teachers, friends, family members, ALO's etc are too!!! My son is truly blessed to be able to go to school with amazing people like you. For those who will not be at the academy, I will pray that another route will be opened that will give you excitement and challenges. I know wherever you go, people will be honored to call you their friends. You are champions in my eyes!
Thank you. I'm really hoping I can get prep school.
michigander,
I am sorry this is happening to you, regarding your family, but sometimes parents don't know how to react to their children when this happens.
I bet if you were a fly on the wall at their offices, all you would hear from them is how proud they are of you and what a great child they have.
Wherever your feet land in the fall, you will do great and you will succeed. You need to remember you beat out your peers to go from student to candidate to applicant. The AFA is one of the most selective colleges in the nation, probably the world too. That is no small feat to get this far.
