DS went to The Basic School at Quantico with a graduate from USNA. He was a great guy and a great officer but during his time at the Naval Academy he had spent a total of 6 days at sea.(4 of them were on shore leave.) If you choose to go to KP and if you graduate you will have accrued more than...
LOL, We rented a truck. (a van would have been a better choice.) BEWARE this stuff takes up a lot of room and never leaves. My DS is in Camp Pendelton, his crap is still in my garage.
We got together with some other members of our parents club and rented a car and a driver. It was expensive but we split the cost and in the end it was well worth it. The ride home was a bit of a blur. :shake:
My DS lost his grandfather during sea year as well and I understand what you are going through. We contacted the Chaplain's office at KP and they got the message to his ship. The Captain and The Chief Engineer sat him down and delivered the news. Unfortunately the ship was undergoing maintenance...
Well said. My DS could not be more proud of his Alma Mater. In fact, he could not wait to tell me that the USNA graduate in his company had a total of six sea days and four of them were spent on shore leave in New York.
The uniforms are similar to USNA but not identical. Most of the time he will be wearing khakis. I am not as familiar with the Air Force program as some of the other parents. The Air Force appears to have only recently "discovered" KP, but he will get his commission on graduation day and then go...
If you are going to commission into the Air Force you will continue to wear the USMMA uniforms until graduation. You will wear Air Force Blues at graduation and will take the oath of office as an Air Force 2nd Lt. as part of the ceremony.
If you can't manage to attend PLC because of scheduling conflicts you can attend OCC after graduation. I recommend going in the Summer if possible. In the Winter it looks like this.
