    Email from USNA - NASS

Thanks all. The phone call came today. Son had just had his wisdom teeth pulled and couldn't really talk, so they said they'd call back tomorrow. Looks like this is somewhat typical. Tim

    Email from USNA - NASS

Just curious....How many NASS attendees have received an email from the Admissions Officer at USNA since coming home? We received one saying that the CFA results were posted immediately after NASS. Now, two weeks later one comes from the Admissions Officer, stating the Mids were very...

    Texas Armed Services Scholarships

Anyone seen these? How is this different from a traditional ROTC scholarship? Kinda seems redundant? http://www.texasarmedservicescholarships.com/

    NASS Session 1-WHAT A BLAST!!!!!!

I don't think that could possibly be a good number. 40% of 2,250 is 900........over 70% of the entire class! I would believe that 40% of the NASS attendees go on to complete their applications for nominations....but I doubt that 40% attend the Academy. Tim

    NASS Session 1-WHAT A BLAST!!!!!!

Glad you had a great time. We are in Alabama tonight, on our way to Annapolis from Texas. Looks like other than a chance of thunderstorms the first couple days, weather should be great for session 2. Tim

Does a Military Branch Influence the personalities/mannerisms of each member?

I think it is safe to say that we Marines always wanted to be first to fight, first to drink, first to anything. And we always wanted to stand out in a crowd....one way or the other, for better or worse. Oh, and we always had our boots shined and our uniform properly pressed! I think it must...

Need Help from Enlisted Marines that are now at the Academy.

There are active duty Marines from the Fleet in every class at USNA....so yes, it does happen. I had a similar brush with the Academy...but I got out in '80 at the end of my initial enlistment and went to a civilian school. I don't really regret the move, but I do wonder sometimes......

I am sure they won't care about your weight, so long as you can carry it! If it slows you down or keeps you from otherwise keeping up in PT, well.....:redface:

The packing list on the USNA website says to pack 4 pairs of athletic shorts. Evidently they no longer issue those? Tim

    NASS 2010 Acceptance Thread

Tim is out running right now. You guys should be working out together and holding each other accountable. Even if it is only one or two times per week that you can get together. We have a pull-up bar in the doorway to Tim's bedroom you can practice pull-ups on. We threw the basketball...

    PSAT scores

Have to agree for the most part with the attempted comparisons between the SAs and the Ivy League schools...although one might argue that our comparisons really don't mean much. The focus of the schools are so different. My son got a 1490 CR+Math on his first sitting of the SAT, but that...

I watched that silly show in the 70's and still enlisted in the Marines! :shake:

    SAT Scores

Son is bumming right now...expected better on the Math and Writing. CR - 800 M - 690 W - 660 He will definitely take again to improve on the Math (his best subject...not sure what went wrong) and writing. Happy about the CR. I think his 3 years of Latin really helped. Tim

    Sports

I have to agree. I will also say that my son's responsibilities/demands as a leader in band far outweigh what I had as a captain of a sport. I asked my son previously if he wanted to drop band and pick up a sport (for the reasons we've discussed). His reply was he did not want to game the...
