I am an incoming MIDN (very soon) who is trying to focus on the short-term future more than the long-term future. Right now, my goal is to be the best plebe during PS. Later, my goal will be the same but during shorter periods of time. During plebe summer (not the academic year), how can I be...
I'm an incoming MIDN who is curious about playing a varsity sport, as a walk-on. Specifically, I want to walk on for the varsity basketball team, but I want to know how realistic that is, if I start off as a member of the USNA's intramural basketball team. If basketball doesn't work out, I'll...
I'm an incoming MIDN who is curious about how much I can expect my cadence pushup count, plank time, and 1.5 mile time to improve over PS (comparing the IPRT in to the PRT administered at the end of PS).
It seems like there's no reason to go IGEP if one wants to become a flag officer. Just to be clear, if one desires to become a flag officer, doing IGEP (qualifying for it is good) is probably not a good route to take?
I'm an incoming MIDN who wants to go into graduate school directly after the USNA (as a part of the IGEP system), but I'm not sure if this is possible if I'm selected as a Bowman Scholar.
Also, if I'm lucky enough to be a Bowman Scholar, I can do Naval Postgraduate School early as well...
I'm an aspiring SWO(N) officer who is an incoming plebe.
Also, I have some strong academic goals for myself at the USNA (that may seem "unrealistic"): primarily they are to become a Rhodes Scholar/Marshall Scholar and to be Valedictorian of '27.
Would it be advantageous to attend graduate...
At first, I was hesitant about revealing too much about myself (SA Forums said to avoid giving personally-identifying information), so I said "I plan" or "I am attending." Later, after getting used to the website, I realized that saying that I'm an incoming MIDN is common and not...
Although I'm an incoming midshipman, I want to learn how I can earn below the zone promotion once the board convenes. What does it depend on?
I am a very competitive person (not cutthroat --> very willing to help others to make whatever team I'm a part of the best) and I am building a desire...
I am a future midshipman who wants to become a career SWO(N) officer. I originally planned on majoring in Nuclear Engineering (I desire something that is theoretical/requires imagination and involves a lot of chemistry), but I want to open my eyes to other, possibly better, options. I want a...
I plan on minoring in Arabic at the USNA, but I have no prior experience with the language (in high school, I took French). I am wondering if it is not a good idea because I'm more interested in Arabic than in French, but I have no experience in Arabic.
I want to take Arabic because I know its...
Thank you for the clarification. Out of curiosity, how competitive is shore duty at Naval Reactors in DC? Could I be at DC for multiple shore duties or for just one?
Thank you, that helps. I was under the impression that NRE is a major career booster (I heard that being stationed in DC for Naval Reactors is a big deal), but now I know SWO(N)/Submarines is the better Naval career option.
I am an aspiring Naval Nuclear Officer, but I am trying to differentiate the difference between two of the naval nuclear officer jobs listed on the US Navy's website.
I plan on attending the USNA and I plan on majoring in nuclear engineering and minoring in Arabic. I tried to pick a major/minor combo that I would enjoy learning, and above all, would be the most challenging. My goal is to graduate at the top of my class there, so I want to learn all the best...
