Does USNA automatically get sent your 1st semester grades or do they have to request it? And do they look at grades before a certain date for example anything before say November 29th (just a random date) or do they wait for you to finish mid terms and take that grade. Just curious. I heard of some people saying they requested grades if you got deferred so not sure if thats just them or everyone who sends them in. Thanks for any help.

If there are scores/grades that they want to see, yes, they will request your semester grades. Most schools that have admitted students already will still look at semester or entire year grades to be sure that there has not been a steep drop off.

That is why in the deferral letter it says to be sure to keep your file up to date with new grades, accomplishments or improved standardized test scores.

In any event, you want to have the strongest stats you can put out there. If not appointed and part of the national candidate pool, you get ranked against everyone else and the highest rankings with nominations can get offered appointments.

You need to make sure they are sent. And they want final semester grades, not anything else.

So if you've already been appointed before the end of first semester, USNA only wants your final transcript at the end of 2nd semester senior year?

If you have already been appointed, prior to end of the 1st semester, there is no need to send any additional transcripts. Both my mids rcvd appointments in October, so the only transcripts ever sent were final transcripts from end of junior year. My current applicant hasn't heard anything yet, and will be sending her transcript after this semester.

To answer the OP, they don't automatically get any transcripts, you need to ensure your updated transcripts are sent to Admissions.
