Ali, what is the process like for international students? Is it more competitive?
 
I'm just guessing here -- but given that she says she's got a "Presidential" nomination and Newmarket is near Mildenhall and Lakenheath, I'm bettin' she's a "brat" and Mom or Dad is stationed at one or the other.... :smile: (Regardless, Congrats!)

Nothing official, but I am hoping this means something good. DoDMERB staus now says:

Agency: US Air Force Academy
Admission Status Change Date: 23-FEB-2009
Current Medical Status: Qualified (as of 13-FEB-09 )

Before today, the admission status change date was some date in June or July. The current medical status date changed with the addition of Navy ROTC to my list of DoDMERB applications.


(I also posted this in a relevant thread in the USNA forums... Thought it was also appropriate here.)

Congratulations on being qualified for the dodmerb. I know a lot of candidates have run into trouble with it but its nice to know you have gotten it out of the way. Now that your file is complete, you just have to wait till March and see what happens... the wait is hard, I know!

Does anyone know how long it takes dodmerb to update the status from incomplete to complete after mailing in paperwork that they requested. They received the paperwork about a week ago and it still says incomplete online.
And just in case your wondering..the paperwork was for acl reconstructive surgery I had in 2007.

Is it definite that we will not know until around March? I'm sweating buckets here. sorry if this is a repeat question.
 
March begins Sunday so I would guess you'll find out then! Congrats and good luck! Atleast you only have a few days of nervous waiting, some of us have been waiting for many months! Haha
 
Sorry for being a debbie downer, but just because mass appointments go out in March, that doesn't mean that you'll recieve it in March. Some appointments go out the beginning of June :eek:. Hang in there, guys! :cool:

Thanks!... although I have been DoDMERB qualified since August. My hope was that the recent admissions status date might mean something. I emailed my ALO who didn't want to put too much weight into the new date - it could simply be administrative - but given what I have been reading here, I am going to remain cautiously optimistic. AFA updates the candidate page on Wednesday, correct?

hmmm....i thought they updated it on mondays and thursday???

i know i had 3...umm...what do you call them??
it said my file was incomplete because i had to send in extra information on three different things. we sent it in and it got updated like 2 weeks after we mailed it....so ya =]

she is correct. mass mailings go out in the 2-3 week of March. But the mailings dont stop until late may i believe. Although take into consideration that after March, any other Appointments going out are because people that were offered them prior, declined them for whatever reason. i think 300 appointments that go out are declined annually. meaning that after March very FEW appointments do go out, but you COULD still have a chance. I have also heard that if it gets to late may and early june, the academy will contact you saying that your a fill-in in if they get more declined appointments....not sure exactly, but thats what a cadet told me. Can someone verify this?? :wink:
 
yep. heard stories of people getting phone calls the day before i-day.
