2015 Appointments

You won't get them (or be able to start on those thing unless you ask a friend who already has theirs or get someone on the forums to send them) until after you return your acceptance. When we went to Orientation last April, I was amazed by the "stupid" questions people were asking during the Q&A's and finally realized it was because they hadn't accepted their appointments yet, and hadn't read all the information that we'd had for a month and been filling out already.
 
does anyone here have this second BFE already????
if so could you post the link to the forms, im just curious as to what they entail and look like

No one will have the second BFE this early, everyone seems to get that second package about the same time since it comes out later when most of the appointments have been offered.

Did you get a BFE yesterday or are you saying your online status changed (or could be both, I guess). I'm trying to figure out how most folks first find out and the timelines involved...

Since I'm in CO my BFE was here first, I'm sure my portal will change by tomorrow though!
 
How long does it take for "Appointment Offered" to change to "Appointment Accepted" once I send in my acceptance form?
 
If I remember correctly, it took almost 3 weeks for my status to update to "appointment accepted."

Just curious, for those of you with appts. already, did you all have either LOA, principal nom. or Pres. nom? I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has already received an appt. having a competitive nom. w/o LOA. I know most of the appts. will come in March after noms close end of Jan. and apps. close in February.

Good question. My wife called up someone at USAFA today and one of the things she learned was that even though DS has a principal nom and everything has been turned in for quite a while and his status has been "Candidate" for months, he probably won't find out from USAFA until mid April one way or the other. I was under the impression that if he was 3Q'd and had a principal nom it was as good as gold and he'd get an offer fairly quickly. Very dissapointed to hear otherwise. They said that the MoC who gave the appointment could learn earlier than April and MoC office can call and let DS know if they want to. Expect a long wait if you aren't what they referred to as an Early Acceptance candidate (LOA as we refer to it). Since our nomination MoC didn't run for re-election, we might not find out until mid April since there's a new person and staff there.

Since son is only on one USAFA MoC slate and he's the principal, I'm not sure why the need to wait for months more is if he's already qualified in every way. Since he can't be moved from one MoC slate to another to help Admissions juggle kids around I'm not sure what waiting longer does unless principal is not the slam dunk thing I was under the impression it was.

Also, the person she talked to said that while they couldn't discuss specifics, it was still unsettled how many 2015 cadets will be admitted but at least it was confirmed they are discussing a small/smaller class size.
 
Wow, mid-April for even principal noms. Thanks for the update luckymacy. Isn't that after the orientation? So the orientation is only for the 10-20% of the appointees that have heard before April?
 
FYI Presidential nom, works differently on how you get it, but the apptmt works as a competitive nom.

Traditionally about 450+ get the nom, but only 100 can be apptd.

There is no limit on the slate size, but like MOCs there is a limit on charging. You'd be surprised how many Presidential noms are awarded in the mass mailing. My bet would be 80%+

I am curious about the Mid-April thing, are they saying the Mass mailing is now going to be in April and not in March? I wonder if they have backed it up by a month, could it be because they are trying to get the numbers right? (smaller class size).

For everyone, remember only about 25% get apptd early, other wise they wouldn't call it the MASS MAILING! Don't fret.

I called my wife up to make sure she was accurate on the April date and she insisted that's what the person said. Selections and their paperwork completed in March, get the USAFA notification in April. Person also said there is a new 'regime' or some such expression like that in charge of Admissions this year so you can't go by past years tea leaves. Yep, going to be a long winter for those who don't like uncertainties. :rolleyes:
