DS still CPR w/ nominations from his Senator and Congressman (received in Dec). Not waiting on any waivers. Academics include 33 on ACT, 4.3 GPA (all IB + AP Calc BC) Extra-curriculars include being a middle school mentor, multiple jobs, leader in Model UN, Pres of Aeronautics Club. 2 Varsity sports- 1 for 4 years , 1 for 2 years, foreign exchange , private pilot certifictate ++. He passed medical and physical (not max, but very respectable scores across the board) But, losing hope. In the fall we (and many others far more knowledgeable than us on SA admissions) felt he was a really good bet for acceptance. This has been his dream since he was a freshman. Are candidates left waiting mostly just those waiting on waivers?
Very impressive stats -- better than my son, who is now Class of 2020. But keep in mind that the academies also look beyond the stats at some intangible that we can only begin to guess at. I can only assume it shows up in the essays, the letters of recommendation, and the BGO interview -- those personal contact points that might let one candidate demonstrate they have "it," but another candidate not so much.
If you son is still CPR, then he is still in the running. I know the waiting is hard -- my son had dreamed of the Academy since he was 8 years old. But you still have almost 3 weeks left, so don't lose heart.
