I'm sure it depends on the school and the unit's relationship with admissions as well as everyone else who applied at that school with the scholarship. If 30 kids applied early, and the school maybe takes 10. . .there's probably some balance between institutional goals and unit goals. But who knows really. And good luck to your daughter. As long as she put forward a great application, that's really all she could do!DD got awarded scholarships for army, navy and af. Will this help sway early action at all schools or just some? Also, does anyone know roughly how many are awarded at each ivy league level school?
Your mileage may vary per school, and even per military branch at that school. Some ROTC cadres will go to bat and have pull with admissions. Others won't engage much. My only recommendation - well request actually (and this isn't personal and 100% distinct/ separate to the original poster, but for ALL candidates), is that HS seniors who are talented enough to earn 1 or more ROTC scholarships don't call every branch at every school asking for help with admissions - have a favorite branch and school? great - reach out. Go visit your top 3 or whatever - But I spoke with cadre at some schools who were burned by candidates implying their school was the top choice, so they called in favors, knocked on university president doors, turned wait-lists into acceptances (even rejections into acceptances) and then subsequently learned that student wanted to "win" and get all acceptances and had really no intention to going to most schools they called - please don't call in the favor and take that helps that could make a difference to another candidate just so you can brag - call in the favor so you can actually go there - how sad that some candidates give e the same "you're my favorite" pitch to many schools. Just for fun, mmoons ago I knew a young lady who gave the same "you're my favorite" speech to most of my teammates on a large squad. I abstained (was dating someone at the time), avoided a trip to the health clinic that others did not.
