Accepting AROTC Scholarship and DoDMERB Waiver Process

I have been awarded an AROTC Four-Year Scholarship to my #3 choice school and I have a few questions:

Will accepting the ROTC scholarship bind me to attend the school the scholarship is being offered to? For example, if I would accept the scholarship now and decide not to attend that school, will I be penalized? Can I just accept the scholarship and then possibly decline it if I end up deciding on another college?

I was recently medically disqualified my DoDMERB due to a skin condition (eczema) when I was about 12 or 13 years old. USMA chose not to request a waiver because I was not "competitive" enough. My question is, will Army ROTC Cadet Command automatically request a medical waiver because I have been awarded a scholarship? Must I first accept the scholarship in order for Cadet Command to pursue a waiver?

I just received my AROTC scholarship offer letter today and can't definitively find the answers to my questions in the packet of information. Can anyone help answer some of my questions? Thank you very much!

The scholarship acceptance is not binding. You may accept it now and decline it at a later date. You can also accept it now and request a transfer to a different school. No guarantee your transfer request will be granted but some are every year.

I don't know for sure but I think now that you have been granted a scholarship AROTC would start the waiver process.

Accept the scholarship, AROTC should start the waiver process at that point.

Don't assume that everything is being taken care of, talk to the Cadre at the scholl the scholarship was awarded, let them know you will need a waiver and see if they can help track the progress. Just a way to make sure things do not fall between the cracks.

Packer is spot on in regards to accepting the scholarship.

Thanks to both of you for the responses! I will keep in contact with the ROO to make sure the waiver process is initiated.
