I realize the Board has thousands of applications to review and no one knows when their file will be reviewed, but will a candidate know when their file has been reviewed? Of course those fortunate to get a LOA, they will know, but for others will there be any indication or formal notice that they have been found competitive or not qualified? If competitive, is it accurate to assume you will then go in the hold file waiting for the nomination process to play out?

This is a great question. I was told by my academy liaison officer that I was competitive and I know that I am triple qualified. I had a presidential nomination and last week I received one from my Congressman. When the Academy gets the list from my Congressman with my name on it, will that initiate some sort of action?

Sorry, I'm a new member and I don't have enough posts to PM yet.

    However, here is my response:

My admissions officer at the Academy told me that my file was reviewed by the admissions board and that I was found scholastically qualified. I got a letter from DoDMERB saying I was medically qualified. I took the CFA at NASS and I passed.

You mentioned that you were scholastically qualified, if you don't mind me asking - how does your record look? For example, 3.5 GPA, 600/600, etc, etc. again, if you don't feel like posting it I understand.

    Hell of a resume, congrats!

Hopefully I'll be up to par - do you know how quickly they can notify you if you are qualified or not? I'm not going to lie, my resume is no way near as good as yours - but hopefully it's good enough to get me qualified.

My final documents for my application were in somewhere around September 20, and I received an LOA on October 7. However, I have reason to believe that a sports coach pushed it through admissions rather quickly. I think this was on the rather rapid end of the spectrum, and as more and more applications are submitted the slower the process will be, but I would guess a two week minimum, and I really do not know how long it takes others to get things through.

I also received my BFE only a week after my nomination, so my impression is that things can go rather quickly, but as I live very close to the academy, not a whole lot of time was lost in the mailing. I think time for application processing really is on a case-by-case basis.

It's up to USNA Admissions to determine whether they want to let you know if you are Scholastically Qualified or not. It seems to be hit or miss each year on whether there is a letter sent if you are found Scholastically Qualified. Normally, you will not receive any negative news until later on in the Admissions process (i.e. Feb through Apr), but some might hear earlier and some later.

DO NOT ASK YOUR BGO for your Board status....WE CANNOT TELL YOU.

Basically, it is still a waiting game for a majority of you. Work on alternate plans and find something to distract yourself!

But can't you still be offered a NAPS/foundation school appointment earlier on in the year?
