Im a hybrid homeschool high school sophomore and I have a list of extracurriculars/sports that I am doing and plan on doing. I would like some advice on whether or not they are good options or if I am missing out on some better Extracurriculars.

At my school, I’m currently doing “Servant Leader.” I’ll give you some background as the program is pretty rare.
As in the name, you lead by serving. Convenient, right? :)
In this program you help teachers in your assigned class for the year, meet once a week for the Servant Leader class, and help in expeditions, which are week-long trips for all middle schoolers and high school Servant Leaders. Once you become a senior, you can become a Captain. You gain more responsibilities and become a Team Captain for your team of fellow and younger high schoolers on retreats. Retreats are similar to expeditions but are only for the high schoolers.

I am currently doing dance once every two weeks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I plan on doing JROTC (Army). If I don’t get accepted, since the school I’m applying to is strict, I plan on doing Sea Cadets or Civil Air Patrol.

At that same school, I will hopefully do Cross Country.

I will do Community Service as much as possible.

For JROTC, I plan on doing Raider and maybe one of either drill team, VEX Robotics, or Marksmanship (Air Rifle). Apparently they’re considered Varsity letters (I’d still do them anyways even if they didn’t have letters).

You look very good to me.

Do community service because you want to - don’t focus on it.

Try to focus your attention on leadership positions in the activities you do engage in. Can you add winter or summer track? Are there leadership ideas whether captain or other?

It is not too early to start preparing for the CFA. Pull-ups are not a common exercise, and the basketball throw is quite unique. Create a good workout routine and (as I tell my students) truly make it a 'routine.' Good luck with your preparations!

Yeah I agree and this is also a good excuse for me to get back to some more community service as a Christian. Will still focus a large portion of time on leadership.

I can definitely add or at least try to add some summer/winter track. This might be hard since I’m usually on vacation during summer and winter at my grandparents who live in a different continent. 😅
Can definitely still train though.

Im not sure what other leadership ideas I could have with servant leader program or other things that can fit into my schedule.
The new school president and his wife both went to the USAFA. He was the first person I asked regarding my interest in the service academies. I will definitely ask him what I could do and some extra ideas as I frequently talk about this with him.

Yes, Im definitely training hard for the CFA.
Funny enough, I was actually writing this thread while I was training pull-ups at the gym.

I'm pretty sure there are no WCS points for volunteer hours, which is why @A1Janitor mentioned doing them because you value that work. But I say if it's an organization you value then try to create a leadership role in that work. Can you become a new volunteer trainer? Can you write process and documentation guides for other volunteers? remember, leadership can be measured in other ways than fancy hats, and making lasting changes in the org is a good one.

Will look into it. I still have to join so I don’t know yet exactly what to do but I will see for sure.

This is my biggest lesson from reflecting on my application process and being a Youngster now
- Don't do ECAs because you think they will look good on the application. I would say most people at the Academy didn't tailor their high school experience to getting in, they just let things come naturally.
- That doesn't mean don't be involved, but do what you're passionate about.
- If you do an ECA, be passionate about it and do it to the best of your ability. I did debate in high school and won state championships not for my application, but because I loved it.
