AFROTC 2015 Enrollment Allocations

If you have zero flight hours I would try to get some in because it will help for your PCSM and testing. Even 6 hours will add points. Our DS took the TBAS years ago, but when he did he was required to bring his log book with him at the time of the testing. Others here can tell you if that is the case, and if nobody here can verify that, than ask your Cadre.

Even if you can't add it on later, at least it will help a little when you get to IFS. IFS moves very quickly. The first exam is given the day after you arrive. Some flight hours will at least make you feel more comfortable in the cockpit than compared to none.
 
With the additional EA's awarded last Friday, my det is now 9/9 for selection

Hi Pima,

I have around 100 flight hours and my private but I was wondering if there were any hints or tips to taking the TBAS

There isn't much you can do. They do say play video games to work on hand-eye coordination though. There are also some spacial orientation practice cards online that you could possibly use. Otherwise it's supposed to be a test that you can't really study for. It measures your natural ability more than anything.
 
Any word on when they are gonna release Max dates? Ready to know if I got my preference or not.

I'm not exactly sure how EAs are going to work in a two year Det. From what I have researched there are only two Dets like this in the whole country Troy and Chareston Southern. Yeah I'm Active Duty right now; I actually know a lot about doing a 2-year AFROTC program, considering I was supposed to do it up until about three weeks ago. So, there are two ways you can do two years. The first requires you to be enlisted, and be accepted to the Enlisted Commissioning Programs (ASCP, SOAR, POC-ERP). In fact, to be accepted into the POC-ERP, you have to be able to graduate and commission in two years. These programs are pretty competitive.

The second way is to get an Out-of-Cycle Enrollment Allocation. This means you meet the board before you even enroll in AFROTC to see if you get a slot. Unfortunately, HQ AFROTC is not approving any of these. I don't mean that figuratively and that it's super competitive and only a handful get them a year. They are approving zero out-of-cycle EAs. I know this because I was doing the ECP until I got a speeding ticket at the WORST possible time. I talked to my det and convinced them to let me do two years, instead of the traditional three for prior enlisted. They were on board and in the middle of trying to figure out how to get it waived when HQ AFROTC told them about the out-of-cycle EA. It's not advertised at all, and technically the AFI says a Det/CC can waive the GMC, but HQ told them this is how they did it.
 
DS's Det. had a 100% EA selection rate (20+ cadets) yesterday. One more hurdle cleared. The decision was delayed ostensibly because of Spring Break. Since it was delayed, he had no way of knowing if the additional EA's released last weekend played a part. On to Bag Drag. Thanks to all the regular posters who have helped educate me and in turn, allowed me to have coherent conversations with my son about ROTC.

I was wondering. I did not receive an EA, however a cadet from my det got one of the additional 139 that came out and he may not take it, what are the chances of me getting the slot if he turns it down?

The same chance as if someone else gives it up. You are ranked on a list nationally and if you are next on the list you will get one. If not, it will go to someone else.

One of our Cadre said we were but it has not been confirmed nationally. From TD 0 to TD 27 would be 28 days, so I am not really sure. I was told the years people have been paid their field training was 29 days so it's a bit confusing.

I applied to the POC-ERP/ASCP for FY 14 and FY 15 but was unfortunately non selected both years (most likely due to non tech major). An education office representative told me about Troy's two year AFROTC program http://trojan.troy.edu/airforcerotc/. This detachment takes individuals in there junior year and holds an out of cycle EA board during spring semester. Once selected for an EA cadets attended field training between junior and senior years. I am not sure why this detachment operates this way but having six years of enlisted time and only two years of college left this Det seems like the best fit. I am in the process of separating now and will be relocating and going to school under Post 911. Does anyone on here have any input on how well prior AF enlisted guys do in receiving EAs? Obviously individuals and personalities will differ but overall how well do prior Es do in your Dets?

Having prior experience doesn't technically play into your stats but most of the time prior Es will be ranked much higher in their commanders ranking which helps a HUGE amount. If you show up, play the game, volunteer for extra duties, and show off your leadership abilities you should be fine. That is of course if you have average grades and an average pfa score. In our det we had two prior Es that I saw go through but they were exceptional. Great grades, tech majors, and perfect pfa scores.
 
So I was initially told I was not getting one a month ago. If I were to get Ike with this next 80, how would that work since I have not been to LLAB or class. I am a crosstown student and I work...so it was not in the cards for me to continue since I didn't have a spot. Is it possible for me to still get one

Our command gave one of our cadets a past for those dates. I think it's at the Commander's discretion. You might want to talk to your cadre because they told him about the addition of 80 more slots and he's back at PT and LLAB. I wish you all the best.
