AFROTC 2015 Enrollment Allocations

My DS is a CTA this year for Max's 3-5 at Camp Shelby. I'm sure he will get the opportunity to meet a few of you this summer. Have Fun!!

what do you mean?

I never joined those groups, but Max 5 last year had a facebook group where people posted all kinds of stupid things. They put up pictures of CTA's and descriptions, a couple people acted really cocky, one guy even posted his orders on there which is a HUGE security violation. You'd better believe the entire encampment suffered for that and the ones who acted like idiots were singled out big time.

Yeah Max 5 it was real. The staff definitely addressed the situation really quickly. I avoided that fb page until after graduating FT.

That stuff has happened every year since I have been a member here. What I find funny is that people still keep posting stuff after being forewarned on here and other social media sites that this is not smart with anecdotal stories.
~~~ IE it won't happen to me.
~~~ I knew posters wondering why old posters say change your moniker on this site.

To take this off topic for a second, but stay on topic, beware social media groups, including sites like this and college confidential. Keep your name private.

On this site there was an AFA cadet that on several social media sites of how they couldn't be broken during BCT and absolutely no female cadet could break them. On the bus on I Day they became a You Tube sensation. The cadet was reamed by a USAFA female BCT instructor....basically repeating everything he said on the net.
~ She was in his face. Thinking about it the only people on that bus with cell phones to video it were instructors.
~~ Iows, they were waiting for him and he had No clue that when he posted on social media, they were lurking on those sites too.

There has also been Mars boy. He also went on social media besides giving an interview. Google Mars boy USAFA
~ He too did a huge mis-step. Bragged about being interviewed in their hometown paper on social media. Than bragged more.
~~ Do not get me wrong nobody was against him for his article, it was what they posted on social media that ruffled feathers.

In the bowels of this site you will find stories of ROTC cadets/mids
~ One cadet belonged to the det. FB page, and the cadre used the back door of a cadet on FB that didn't lock theirs. They saw a cadet underage drinking at a party. They were pulled in to explain why they violated the 0 tolerance.
~ There is another thread that a mid, on scholarship was revoked during the Joe PA situation. It wasn't FB that got him, but the media.

Just saying, keep your nose clean, and realize that you may think you are smarter than all of us, especially us old people, but you really aren't unless you stay away from divulging info.

My very favorite story is from collegeconfidential.com back in 07 or 08. An asian twin was appointed to USMA. He did the bravado posts about how nobody could break him.
~ Problem was he didn't realize the info he gave out. They came back and asked how many asian twins from NY do you think get appointed to USMA?
~:jaw: was his response! They basically said let's hope we pick the right twin, iows, you! His brother was not on collegeconfidential.com.
~~ My favorite response was maybe you should have a personalized tee shirt that says it wasn't me.
~~~ He spent the next few weeks trying to get back in the good graces of the posters.
Just saying, there are a ton of anecdotal stories on this site regarding how naive posters think 2+2 doesn't equal 4 and why social media can be a beaaatttchh
Finally, the 1 thing we (Bullet & I) instilled in our DS as an AF Brat was show respect, regardless of your rank to everyone that has spent 1 more day in this life than you. Do that and life will be great.
I agree that you shouldn't be "that guy". The problem is I don't think that "that guy" ever believes they are "that guy". And if they know they are "that guy" rarely if ever do they care that they are being called that because the only thing they care about is getting their goal, and if it means playing the game they will.
There are two types of people:
Those that are better then they think they are.
And
Those that think they are better then they are.
Be the first one and you'll do fine.
I see. Well, what if I am going to FTAP in conjunction with FT? It adds a week. Anybody familiar with this? I know I could ask my cadre, but I haven't formally joined the detachment yet and don't want to come in asking questions about money right away. On the other hand, I have a family I'm trying to budget for.
FTAP was phased out a while ago. I'm not sure it's coming back either, unless I am missing something.
I don't know when it was phased out or when it came back, but I'm definitely headed to FTAP ahead of Max 3 along with a few other JAG cadets I know.
You said you haven't formally joined the det yet you say you are gong to Max 3?
Yes, I'm a JAG cadet in law school. Perhaps I misspoke slightly by saying I haven't formally joined- I have exchanged registration information over email and have been going through the dodmerb process, but haven't actually been to the Det yet. It's a unique program for the JAG
Well, then I stand corrected.
My detachment have a 100% selection rate. And the Arney (AAS) told us that they met a general at the NATCON , news are next year(2016) the selection rate for EA will be better than this year's. They told us that as long as we don't mess up really bad, we should get the EA. Don't raise your hope though, it can change !
