Interesting, I just looked on AFROTC.com under scholarships this the 1st time they have nothing for ICSP. It only has HSSP and enlisted. Before anyone freaks, I only went to the scholarship page, I did not look into the bowels of the site. It may be that the submission date has passed for this yr and took it down from their website. IOTW, don't read into it too much
~~~ Flipside of the pancake is: I also will say, ICSP is not guaranteed to occur every yr. 2-3 yrs ago there was no board, along with the cancellation of the July OCS board.
You can see it goes both ways, and none of us are part of the AFROTCHQ system. This is just my way of saying look at everything.
Ask your DS when the board is, his det would know because there is a system they follow regarding the process. One part is called suspense date. This basically means by X date all of the paperwork must be submitted to AFROTCHQ. It takes a few weeks for the dets to get the paperwork in order to meet that suspense date. The suspense date is usually 4-6 weeks prior to the release of the board results. Thus, when you start tallying everything together, it can be months from start to finish. The cadre knows the dates regarding the timeline going in.
Your DS may also be up for a det only scholarship, and not the ICSP AFROTCHQ scholarship. It is possible that this is the case. In the current economy for the AF and AFROTC, the det. may want the exam to make sure that their money is being well spent. To offer an on campus scholarship for 3 yrs., without knowing from a medical perspective if they can commission is not spending their money wisely.
Our friend's DD had her exam done @ this time too, a few yrs back, only to find out that they DQ'd her for asthma, and she never knew she had it. Diagnosed at 6, never used an inhaler in her life. She is a 3rd degree black belt, competes nationally and internationally. The waiver was not given, and she dis-enrolled before she started C200.
The exam is a good sign, but the best thing a poster can say here is looking at everything ask your DS if there is an ICSP board, or is this for a det scholarship.
I will leave it to others to inform how a campus based scholarship works. I don't know if they get stipends or book allowances.
I will say only that either HQ or det. scholarship it is still a great sign. SFT is currently 50% CoC rec. Both ways, he is surely to get a strong rec next fall if he stays the course.
Don't worry about the scholarship, what will be, will be.
