My son graduates next week. His original EAD was in October. Today he was notified it had been changed to July 4th. I was wondering if this is likely to be his last change, or if I shouldn't be surprised if it changes again before he heads out.

    Thanks!

DS's changed three times before he reported. Typically orders are cut six weeks prior to RNLTD. I doubt his orders will change again, especially if he is attending any type is school. It might change if he is going casual, but I would still doubt it because he is almost six weeks out.

Thanks Pima! I believe he is reporting directly to the base he will be stationed at, not a school, so this is probably it.

Actually, since they are not attending a school there is a higher chance of them switching his report date. Attending a school will have a class start date. Directly reporting can change because they are replacing someone, thus it is a domino effect, that person needs to leave so there is room for your DS.
~ In part it was why our DSs RNLTD kept moving

I still doubt it will move, and if it does it probably will move up or back by a small amount.

Where is he going, anywhere great like Hawaii? I would have said Eglin, but after all of this rain I am not sure how great it would be to be there right now!

Welcome him to "the reality of military service".

I couldn't tell you how many times I had orders to report "somwhere" at "such and such a time", only to have it change -- earlier, or later, or cancelled altogether. :frown:

It's a standing observation / mantra most military members have learned to live by a long time ago: "There is no such thing as a "sure thing" when it comes to deploying or moving somewhere. The ONLY time you should feel 100% certain about travel orders is when you're standing on the ramp at the location you have orders to..."

He'll get used to it. More importantly, please pass on our Congrats to him, and our Welcome to Big Blue! :thumb:

Well not Hawaii, he is going to Pederson AFB in Colorado. He is in the procurement side. He is supposed to work with both the USAF and contractors developing new systems. He is excited about it.

Don't mean to steal the thread, but which one is you in the new avatar Pima, if either one? Oh, and I'm looking for my magnifying glass now.

Fencer Is on the left. I am on the right in Blue. Her DS also got C130J from the same class as our DS. Both of our DSs got Dyess, so we have at least 3 more years together, This shot was done during the cocktail hour for the formal celebrating their winging. It took seven years of SAF friendship, but we finally met.

Back on topic, Moose I am jealous, CO springs is a much better place to visit than Abilene TX.

God Bless, and God Speed to him.

Thank him and your family for stepping up to the plate to defend us so others do not have to.

Just to prepare you all as you get ready for military service. He just got new orders again, and now he is supposed to head out on June 30th. I am figuring it would be tough for them to move it again, but I guess I wouldn't be surprised.

Just as an FYI, he was also contacted today by his advisor, who is currently stationed at Peterson. He went through a bunch of different things, from where to look for apartments, to what his job would be, and where he would be working. He was extremely helpful and answered a bunch of his questions. Perhaps more of a relief for me than for him, but either way, a nice support mechanism.
