Anyone know the stats of last year recipients?
How many applied?
How many awarded? etc

I don't have the stats for 2015/2016, but these are the historical stats.

1. @16-18% BOARDED will get a scholarship.
~ BOARDED is different than applying. Boarded means you met the threshold to be deemed competitive or completed the entire application. Thus, the number that applied is not important in my opinion. The % that were boarded and got a scholarship is. If looking for a number boarded it usually is over 5K, and @900 get a scholarship
2. Stat wise the one they have always released has been broken down for Type 1, 2 and 7
~ BEST SITTING ACT/SAT
~~ Type 1 is typically 31+ and around 1350 SAT out of 1600
~~ Type 2 is @30 ACT and just over 1300
~~ Type 7 is @29 and just under 1300.

Now many may not be responding because the fact is stats for 2015/16 are just that stats for 2015/16. The biggie that nobody knows is the pool size for this yr.

AFROTC scholarship is not a true 4 yr scholarship, it is a 2 +2 scholarship. As an AFROTC cadet you will have to get selected for SFT as a sophomore. No SFT and it is highly likely you will be disenrolled from AFROTC. The SFT board does not know which cadet is scholarship and which is not (masked). Now for the last 2 yrs it has been @93% selected. However, 3 yrs ago the rate was @55% even though the number has always stayed the same. Why? Because just like the HSSP HQAFROTC knows how many people they will need, and for that yr the pool size was so large that they only 55% were selected.

It would be interesting to find out the last 5 year stats of applied and boarded, so to see if there was a growth. I'm sure during sequestration there had to be a dip in awards. We have a few ex Det commander friends who could find this out by the end of the year maybe.

Thanks for the stats. I'd like to know the number of total applicants because that gives a true acceptance rate in terms of achievement. If the acceptance rate of those boarded is 16% to 18%, then total acceptance rate of all applicants must be single digits or close. That's an achievement to brag about to college admission depts. :)

I've also read that the Foreign Language recipient rate is 10%.

My applicant child met the scores listed for Type 1 but got a Type 2. Don't know if her interview or selection of a Math major had an impact (apparently being from an AF family didn't help).
