Hey all,

This is for those that keep seeing my frequent posts about me worrying about getting picked up for pilot. Mainly Noketchup and Pima who are very willing to lend a second opinion (ty btw)

I recently retook the AFOQT and today they posted the scores. My pcsm went from a 52 to a 75. I am so elated because that means my scores are as follows:

PFA: 97.3
GPA: 3.19
RSS: Top 1/3 - likely 2 or 3 out of 16
FT: DG - #1
PCSM: 75

Does this mean I am a shoe-in for UPT? Am I competitive for ENJJPT? Someone told me that getting ENJJPT is all about who the cadre know and I don't think my commander knows any pilots let alone anyone at ENJJPT.

Thanks!

Congrats on the new PCSM! My opinion is that you're a shoe in for UPT however, it'd be close for ENJJPT.

I'm an ENJJPT select and follow all the stats very closely. My commander was brand new and he's a force support officer so he had no connections with pilots or knew anyone on the board. I'm confident that it's an unbiased process strictly selecting the most qualified candidates based on Order of Merit. This ENJJPT cycle the average stats were as follows:

PFA: 98.8
GPA: 3.564
RSS: 3.27/20
FT: 3.45/20
PCSM: 84.6

This equates to a Order of Merit of 87.3 for the average select. Your OM comes out to 85.289 being ranked 2/16 and comes out to 83.727 being ranked 3/16. My friend had a similar OM score, ~85.5, and did not get picked up for ENJJPT. Over the last three years, the averages have increased. I'm not sure what will happen with next year's board but after the pilot select averages come out in Feb/Mar, you'll have a better idea of what the ENJJPT averages will be close to. You can continue to improve your OM all the way up to September of next year for ENJJPT.

Best of luck to you, let me know if you have any other questions.

Would you be able to give me an idea of where I stand as well?

PFA: 98.8 (going up this semester ~99 or 100)
GPA: 3.54 (going up this semester ~3.6)
RSS: 2 or 3 of 32
FT: 1 of 20
PCSM: 67

My PCSM is the one thing holding me down, with a little more flight time I can get it to a 71 but I don't know if 5 points would make a difference.

The pilot board averages were
PCSM: 60.2
PFA: 97.3
GPA: 3.3
And 446 selected

Any advice or help would be appreciated!

Given that you can get your PCSM up to a 71, as well as achieve your GPA and PFA goals, your OM is a 86.1 which would be right at the edge for ENJJPT.
You can use this calculator that Joekenny made to check for yourself. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q9Hjlq2ymhJivS4VlN0amAcEBr55wVkrQa0yvNJoJ4U/edit?usp=sharing

How do people know their RSS. My son has no clue what his is and they won't say. He did get a pilot spot but I was curious due to ENJJPT

They only know because cadre fell like it'd be useful information for them. If the cadre doesn't think that then they won't know. Just one of those things that you can't control and keep working at it.

CEV, would you be able to send me the Order of Merit Calculator file for FY 2017 or access to it? I need approval for the link. My email is, mitchpikester7@gmail.com

Does anyone know how they are planning to do the rated and non rated boards for the people doing the FY18 one year program? As in people that will basically come in their senior year take 300 and 400 classes each semester, graduate, go to LEAD and then commission?

I ask because without a field training and not a great shot of a descent commanders ranking(with very little to zero time with the det) they seem to be at quite a disadvantage when it comes to competing on the boards.

Yep, I imagine they'll simply be at a disadvantage.
