AFROTC results early!

DS got type 2. Wonder what degrees they are looking for this year.

<y son didn't get one this board, but AFROTC is my favorite service right now. We got a nice email saying we didn't get the scholarship, that he would be considered on the next board, and they reiterated what they were looking for and that it is highly competitive.
Much better than the "Did my page get updated" or maybe I am just the last to be updated.
Straight forward and to the point. Nice job to everyone who received scholarships, and fingers crossed for us on the second boards.

DS was thinking CU Boulder but with a type 2 it will be OU. In state tuition for ROTC students.

DS just got a 4 year Type 7!! He applied for engineering (mechanical and aeronautical).

Congrats to all!

Interesting that they went back to the old system again; reboading at the next board if not selected instead of just the final board.

Are they still doing a Dec. board or is the next board January?

Next AFROTC board is January 23-27 with the expected release date around February 10th.

I received a type 7 (aeronautical and mechanical). If I update my application with new ACT scores will I be reboarded to be considered for a type 1,2 scholarship?

NO.
You are now considered a recipient, you will not be reboarded.

Your next step now will be DoDMERB, but nothing else.

3/27-3/21

DD just got a 4-year AFROTC Type 7, yesterday (on her Mom's Birthday !)

Because she chose to be an English major at what ever University she attends, she is covering her bases and is still awaiting AROTC, NROTC and USCGA.

I just found out yesterday that I was awarded at type 1 technical scholarship!

I am also waiting to hear back from USAFA if I am offered an appointment or not. Does anybody know if getting a type 1 is a good indicator of my prospects to being offered an appointment to the AFA?

Perhaps, in terms of the lower % allocation schedule of the Type 1 Awards it may favor the odds. Your AFROTC Type 1 really has no barring on selection of a AFA Appointment. Scholarships awarded for AFROTC are strictly merit based, what counts are grades, SATs and extracurricular leadership for the AFROTC program.

Remember the SAs get tons of kids with perfect 4.0 grades and perfect SATs, but they only can take so many. The USAFA has a 'slightly' different selection criteria that is a "secrete sauce" Candidates are selected in order to fit a desired Class profile that the USAFA (or USNA, USMA, USCGA) wants for its Class.

Did anyone who got the no email from AFROTC get the EXACT same email yesterday? Am thinking it was an error?
