AFROTC Scholarship Upgrade

DS has been working on his USAFA appointee checklist and packing in between our last vacations as a family so he didn't really pay attention to an AFROTC email that came in on May 25th. Turns out, it was informing him that his Type 7 scholarship has been upgraded to a Type 1. He's still set on going to USAFA, but anyone else have this happen? I really just want to document it for future applicants and see if it is common at the end of the cycle. If we had known that was an option, it may have changed his plan B prior to receiving his USAFA offer of appointment.

It happened this year to several participants on these forums. It's not that common although it has happened over the past two years. I'm not sure this will be consistent from year to year. Things always change.
