Ah yes, the never-ending "Chances?" threads.

I'm not saying that. What I'm saying is all that it takes is one mistake or slip up (after all, we are all human, and prone to mistakes) and something could happen.

If people were perfect, I would have no problem with it. But people (even the best of us!) make mistakes.

And the personal/professional decisions isnt so much the issue, as accidentally saying something that you didn't realize was significant, but not so public (or could lead someone to a conclusion that the public shouldn't be aware of).

On a side note: Anonymity on the internet, esp. on sites like this that are linked to an email, is a misnomer. You are only anonymous if someone doesn't bother to take the time to try and find out who you are. Just saying.

HeWantsTheD,

I am sure that the board (if they post here) will be able to separate their personal and professional sides when posting. I doubt they would violate anything.

Accidents happen. Bad days, whatever. Either way, that's not the point of the topic.

Also, thanks for getting my username joke. Please tell me that was intentional and not a misread.

I think you meant 52%... a 0.52% rate would mean there were 260,000 qualified candidates and 1350 appointments.

i think you're just bustin' my balls but yes i meant 52% ... so much for ap calculus hahahaha thanks

Hi, Christcorp, I don't know who you are, I've been following this forum over a year and I have a great respect for all your post and sincerely appreciate the insight and patient of you! :thumb:

Thank you BL. I really appreciate the kind words. But as I've said numerous times, the reason this forum is such a success; especially with helping applicants make it to the academies, ROTC, and the prep-schools; is because of the COMBINED contributions of all the posters. Each person brings in a different perspective. Parents, applicants, current cadets, alumni, ALO's, active duty, retired, family members, etc.... But thank you, I do appreciate that you appreciate.

HeWantsTheBFE:
Sorry; but I just can not agree with your position. I've never been one of those who say: "We'll have to agree to disagree"; but I can't think of ANY SCENARIO whereby a selection board member, and ALO, or anyone else from admissions could say or post ANYTHING on this forum that would have any direct impact on ANY applicant. What "accidents can happen" are you talking about? Give me ANY Scenario; however far fetched; that I can see as an example.

I just don't see what you're even implying. Unless you start posting information like:
NAME: John Smith; ADDRESS: 1313 Mockingbird Lane, Boston; DISTRICT:14; ALO: Mary Jane; COMMENTS: I like doing drugs and think all of the people at the academy admissions are A-Holes. You decide what to post, and you decide what you want your profile to say. How can I affect your application?

How am I, or anyone else associated with the academy going to know who you are? And what could I or anyone else associated with the academy say that could impact your or anyone else' chance at receiving an appointment. "Anything that doesn't equally affect ALL OTHERS READING the post"?

Sorry; but I just can not think of what you're trying to say. I can't think of any scenario.

+1 Christcorp.

There is absolutely. positively, not 1 scenario I could imagine. NONE!

I go back to CC's statement if there should be no posters that are involved for the AFA board, he and Flieger should be gone.

They are ALO's, part of your WCS is their rec.

A member on the selection board doesn't support any candidate like an ALO does, they just award points, including the rec from ALOs. An ALO has a greater impact. If it is unethical for anyone, it would be IMPO ALOs.

No offense, but I don't think you have a grasp on the appointment system...primary/principal, WCS. This is not uncommon, it takes time to get it! However, please be open minded to understand your position that it is unethical may be viewed as off the mark by many.

Sorry; but I just can not think of what you're trying to say. I can't think of any scenario.

Someone (for whatever reason) goes nuts and tells something that shouldnt be public, EG: WCS score of lowest applicants, more detailed info that is otherwise avaliable.

I'm not saying they shouldnt post, I'm saying they should not identify themselves as members of the board. Bad idea.

Thank you

I remember the first time when I bring my son meet with AF ROTC officer, when the officer introduce the program, and show my son the benefit and career… my son told the officer: We come here for service not for the benefit.

Yes, people here bring in a different perspective, some for pilot program, some for the 40K education cost, and the end up Christcorp always bring to the very good attitude. This is how I learn from here, and ,

+1 to Pima, she can always answer the very tough questions, I always feel her passion, and you guys here volunteer your time, serve people like me without any military background, I would say, you are the people serve country for real. Thank you for your time and patient.:thumb:

Still not an example that I can grasp. There are 12,000+ prospects. 6000+/- that are considered candidates. 2500-3000 that are considered "Competitive" with a nomination. Even if I told you what the LOWEST WCS score was, it would mean absolutely NOTHING TO YOU. Why? Because you don't even know what YOUR SCORE IS!!! And even if we DID tell you what YOUR SCORE WAS, you have no idea what your COMPETITION'S SCORE IS!!!

So, let me tell you that a WCS in the 450 area, most likely will not get you an appointment. What has that told you? Even if I told you that a 750 WCS probably WOULD get you an appointment, what has THAT TOLD YOU??? Absolutely NOTHING!!! Why? Because on your MOC's slate, that you are on, there could be someone with a WCS of 751 and you DON'T GET THE APPOINTMENT.

Again; I know you think there's a scenario here, but you haven't gotten it. Pima is 1000% correct. I don't think you really understand the appointment process. That's ok though. 95% of the applicants have no idea how the appointment process works.

Anyway; feel free to think of other scenarios if you are truly concerned. But even if I told you the LOWEST WCS out of ALL 2500-3000 candidates who are actually competing for the 1000-1200 appointments, that score wouldn't mean ANYTHING TO YOU. Because you DON'T KNOW YOUR SCORE and you don't know your COMPETITION'S SCORE. Sorry. That's how it is.
