Air Force Football

Hey that is why I go to games!
I hope you take some time to look around and explore.

When they bring cadets from other SA's where do they stay? Do they bunk w/ USMA cadets? There are not many hotel options in HF!

That's because of revenue sharing (or lack thereof) for MLB. Pirates haven't always been this way, and aren't the worst team in baseball. PNC Park is suppost to be very nice.

As for the Phillies....I will be heading to Philly for Game 2 of the NLCS.

PNC Park is a great park for baseball. And, you are right about the reasons THE PIRATES STINK. It's just very frustrating for a person whose first words were "Let's Go Bucs!" (It's true; my granddad who never left Iowa was a huge Pirates fan and in the 1920's when commercial radio was available - he was in his 30's and 40's then - he used to listen to the Pittsburgh station at night in the summers. They had radio before they had indoor plumbing (1941), just so he could hear the games. Anyway, he coaxed me to say that and I could play baseball, and knew the stats, long before I could read/write. He would be thrilled to know that I live near-ish to PNC Park now. (Within an hour-and-a-half or so)

The only pro game we attended together was a Pirates/Phillies game. He died two weeks later! But we really had a blast that day - a double header!

What a great game against UNLV. We sat in the endzone with a bunch of UNLV Fanatics. Friend of mine caught Harrisons first PAT. The defensive stand at the end of the game was amazing. Go Falcons!!!

A win is definitely nice. But unless Air Force plays tougher than they did against UNLV and to an extent, SDSU, New Mexico could definitely hurt us and possibly put into jeopardy our chances for a Bowl game.

If we win the next 3 games; UNM, Army, and CSU; then we are guaranteed a minimum of 4th place and a bowl game. If we lose any one of the next 3 games, and we risk a 3 way tie with UNM and CSU for 4th place with records of possibly 7-5. (Assuming losses to BYU and TCU). That record may not be good enough for a bowl game. 8-4 and no one can touch us. With also the possibility of an upset on BYU or TCU to go 9-3 or 10-2. If Utah remains undefeated, they can go BCS busting and free up another bowl game for us. But with still needing to play TCU and BYU, Utah might not be able to do that. We'll see what happens. It's better to go for the guarantee instead of hoping for Utah. Let us win the next 3 games and we don't have anything to worry.

Problem however is; UNM beat SDSU 70-7. CSU played TCU really strong last weak. Our offense is definitely getting better, but last night our defense definitely had problems. Too many missed tackles to give up points. If we play UNM like we did UNLV, we will have problems. Same with CSU. We have a very good team. We just need it all to work together to have a COMPLETE 4 quarters of game. If we do that, we can beat almost anyone. later... mike....

Yes defense is a problem. They should never have allowed UNLV to come back and even pass them in the second half. Once UNLV figured out there was little or no pass defense the game was on. I hope they make a bowl game this year, but will be OK knowing they have a couple of freshman like Jefferson and Clark to build on for the next three. As Jefferson matures and more passing gets built into the game they will be fast and furious.

Still really need some defense though. After Utah I thought BYU, and TCU would be really though games. Still do but there is a little hope.

FOOTBALL Update!!!

Ok folks. Here's the deal. Air Force BEAT ARMY yesterday. It wasn't the "prettiest" game; and I probably shouldn't even use the word "beat" in describing the game. However, it was still a WIN!!!!:thumb:

That now brings us to a 7-2 season. We are BOWL ELIGIBLE, but NOT guaranteed a bowl game! How is that possible some might ask. Simply put, our conference gets 4 bowl games and there are 2 teams above us that no matter if they lose the rest of their games, they will still have 2 of the 4 bowl games. There is 1 team above us that we could TIE with, but chances are they will probably be above us and get the 3rd bowl game. That leaves 1 bowl game left for the taking. IF, we beat CSU this coming Saturday, then we are GUARANTEED 1 of the 4 bowl games. No team except 3 can finish ahead of us. Thus making us a MINIMUM of 4th in the conference and a bowl game. However, if we LOSE to CSU; then it's possible that CSU or New Mexico could actually place HIGHER than us in the conference and take the 4th bowl game.

So, I am begging every cadet; family member; fan; resident of Colorado; etc... If you can possibly be at the academy next Saturday; November 8th; at 4pm; to attend the Air Force vs CSU game; that you please do so. We need all the support we can get. The team needs to "FEEL THE POWER"!!!! They were told in the beginning of the year that they would finish 2nd from the bottom. That they graduated their entire starting lineup (They did pretty much). That they couldn't win with 6-8 returning starting players and the rest Freshmen and Sophomores. The problem is; NOBODY TOLD OUR PLAYERS THIS!!!!! They are in 4th place in the conference. They have a 7-2 record. They have 3 games left. If they can win ANY OF THE 3, then they are guaranteed a BOWL GAME. The most likely is the CSU game this weekend. That's because it's AT Air Force and the home field and FANS can give us the EDGE!!! We need you all. Spread the word. Get anyone to come to the game that can.

Time for the falcons to kick some RAM BUTT!!! later... mike....

:tank:

Christcorp: I will be there!! Along with many members of my AFJROTC unit! CSU lost to BYU last night, close game though, so CSU will be lookin' for a win. I don't think they're gonna get it though

Well here's one rowdy, rootin' fan gonna be attending! :groupwave:

Congrats to the Falcons for a well played game! Other than their win, the F-22 flyovers was one of the highlights! Very very sweet to see those fly over at dusk with afterburners! Looks like there might be a bowl game in the making for AFA!

I spent quite a few years with the F-15 in Holland. To see that eagle come in low; turn up; go Tropo with full afterburners; and then follow behind with 2 F-22 doing the same thing; OMG!!! That always gives me the chills. The sense of "Invincibility".

OH YEA; "Great game Falcons". LOL!!! Actually, it WAS a great game. The offense found themselves and "Paid Back" the defense and Ryan Harrison for the many games they won. Yesterday was a real true "TEAM WIN".

"FALCON POWER"

I loved the fact that our passing game actually existed in serious form. (I'm a fan of pass plays.)

Those fly-overs were some of the best I've seen in 3 years!

The passing game is good to see. I suspect that young Mr. Jefferson hasn't been allowed to pass much so he can develop and get used to a game that is much faster then high school ball. I would be surprised if the coach doesn't begin to develop it more in coming games. Cool thing is as a Freshman we have a few years to watch him develop that game. I think it will be a big part of the future.

As for the flyovers yes CC I love seeing the Eagles do their thing too. I have the advantage here at Nellis because I can run to the BX in the morning and watch 2 ships of 15's and 22's take off each morning. I always love hearing the car alarms go off in the parking lot. I also live on the flight path to Indian Springs and we get to hear them fly out and back before entering the range. Reminds me off younger days.

Took potter out to the F22 weapons school over the summer and she had a great time. Nothing like a fighter jet to get you pumped up.
