My DS has been in contact with his ALO (via email) on a couple of occasions. He was informed by the ALO that both a phone interview and in-person interview would take place. The ALO then forwarded over a set of questions to help him prepare for both interviews.

DS had the phone interview last week and indicated it went very well. As much I wanted to stand by and listen in, I chose not too!

The in-person interview is scheduled for this weekend.

In checking his status on the USAFA website today, I noticed that his ALO has already submitted the candidate evaluation and all DS has to do is complete the drug awareness questionnaire when it gets released.

So my question is: Is it odd that the ALO completed the eval without actually meeting DS?

Maybe I'm reading too much into it!

Yes.... You're reading too much into it. It is not uncommon, especially where I live, to do the entire ALO interview by phone. Your son's ALO's decision to also meet in person could be to simply get to know your son better. Also, if the ALO was to determine something in the face to face that conflicted significantly with what s/he submitted previously, there are ways for him/her to update their evaluation with admissions. Don't worry about it.

Roger that. I appreciate the quick reply. DS is a recruited athlete (track & field) and we are fortunate in that he has the whole package (grades, SATS, sports, student gov't, etc) to be considered without being recruited. MOC interview is next week as well then it's sit back and watch the paint dry!

Sounds like he has everything in line and going for him. :thumb:

We (our state) had their MOC interviews last Saturday. Unless you're really bad, most every candidate here gets a nomination. Some get 2. But we only have 1 representative/district for the entire state, so ALL candidates are competing with each other for basically 3 appointments. The rest of the candidates will compete in the national pool. The year my son applied, he was one of the rare few who also had a presidential nomination. He received an early appointment, (Prior to even having his MOC interviews). So he contacted them to tell them to use their nominations for someone else. That year we had 6-7 appointments. 3 MOCs, 1 Presidential, 2 National Pool, and 1 from the prep school the previous year. It's definitely easier to get a nomination here in wyoming; but it's actually harder to get an appointment.
