Any chance AROTC transfer request gets denied?

Hello,

I submitted a transfer request for my scholarship to go from private to private earlier this week. I need to commit soon because Honors College housing requests need to be in before May 1st. Obviously, I wouldn't want to commit however if there's any chance my request got denied, so honestly is there any chance that cadet command denies it? I've also been told by the ROO at the school I want to transfer to that they are seeking to expand the program, however the school im transferring out of has like 3 (including me) AROTC students.

Yes, of course. It's possible cadet command will approve or deny your request. Are these schools in the same or different brigade(s)? Is there a significant cost difference? How full / in demand is each program? Was the "to" school on your list/ in your top 3? If the "from" school only has 3 cadets, perhaps they will be reticent to release you from that program. For any number of reasons this could be approved, or... Perhaps others here who are ROO's from their respective schools could chime in on odds.

Bottom line - gmonitor their decision, and without hounding, perhaps next week you could follow-up to see if a decision has been made (and check your portal in the interim). There may come a point in a few days when you need to either give up the honors housing or put down 200.00 to reserve it just in case - money you likely won't see again if you end up not going there. It's a hedge bet - I lost 200.00 3 years ago when one of my kids decided to change colleges at the 23rd hour after the "to" college upped their merit scholarship to an offer she / we could not refuse. Worth losing every penny. Good luck.

Where you listed the from and to on your list won't effect decision. The losing school doesn't have a say, so they can't not release you.

Unless you are transferring to a school that is just swamped with requests to transfer and accepts it's likely to be approved.

In my 20+ years I have never seen a request be denied from the national process. Keep bugging the ROO at your "to" school, and keep in mind it's coming down to the wire, so I'm sure Cadet Command is processing them as fast as they can.
