Anybody get a Air Force ROTC scholarship...

Where did these percentages come from? The Air Force site says that
5% are Type 1
20% are Type 2
75% are Type 7
http://afrotc.com/scholarships/high-school/scholarship-types/

Mine came from the person at Maxwell and it relates to this board specifically. Also note that my percentages add up to 35% which is 35% of the total 1500. Your statistics are the percentages of the awardees, of the 500. So in my case, "there are 1% type 1 scholarships awarded out of all the applicants, or 1500". In your case it says, "of those that got scholarships, 5% were type 1". We are both right. Hope that is clear.

You gotta love statistics...

I applied for a scholarship a month ago and the AFROTC application tracker still says that it has not received any of my paper work. Is that normal?

Thanks....yes it is clear. The different percentages do return different results though.

For instance:
1% of 1500 candidates for Type 1 scholarships = 15
5% of 525 candidates (35% of 1500) for Type 1 scholarships = 26

6% 0f 1500 candidates for Type 2 scholarships = 90
20% of 525 candidates (35% of 1500) for Type 2 scholarships = 105

28% 0f 1500 candidates for Type 7 scholarships = 420
75% of 525 candidates (35% of 1500) for Type 7 scholarships = 394

Both equal 525 scholarships but with a different distribution. That is why I wondered where your percentage came from. Bottom line seems to be that (if you can trust the person at Maxwell) this board is awarding fewer Type 1 & Type 2s than what are awarded overall through the HSSP.

I would email your contact at Maxwell (their email address and contact number should be listed below) and confirm that your file is complete. Good Luck!

"If you have specific inquiries about your scholarship application, please email or call the Scholarship Section (HQ/RRUCC) at 1-866-423-7682. Or, fax us at 1-334-953-4384."

She said these were approximate distributions. Anyway...

guardianvg: son's status change on AFROTC site, then dodmerb, then letter. If I remember right, it all seemed to be very quick.

...I spoke to Maxwell AFB again today....
...if you got a scholarship in this second board the recruiters will be calling you on Monday, Feb 8th...
Anybody get a call yet?

Just checked the Scholarship Tracker web site and it says:

"Congratulations! You were awarded a scholarship. You will be receiving written confirmation via mail within the next few weeks. If you have questions please notify HQ AFROTC/RRUC."

Called Maxwell AFB and was told she was awarded a Type 7. Good news and not a surprise that the Air Force is awarding Type 7s to Nursing majors.

Checked the DoDMERB site and in addition to the Army & Navy offers, there was a new one listed:

"Agency: US Air Force ROTC
Admission Status: Offer Extended
Admission Status Change Date: 8-FEB-2010
Current Medical Status: In Process (as of 08-FEB-10 )"

Good luck to everyone who is waiting!

Congratulations to everyone who got a scholarship, sadly I didn't get so thats the end of my journey. To the USAF as an enlistee I go i guess...

Just checked. Son's status says the same as aglages daughter's. I'll have son call to find out which type. Did anyone get a different message? Wondering if type 7's get this message and type 1 and 2 get a different message?

Anyway, :thumb: very happy here!

Darrel, don't give up yet, there are more boards to come! Hang in there!

I think we are done also

My daughter's message now says your application met the board and you were not selected for a scholarship. You will be receiving confirmation via mail within the next few weeks. Nothing about meeting the next board.
Very disappointed.
Thanks for all the info.

Why? I believe there are more scholarship boards yet....aren't there?

Congrats to you all who got scholarships. I just read where I did not receive one. There goes several months of work and worrying

Does anyone know if there are any other boards or is this the end of the line for those of us who did not receive anything?

Thanks. I do believe there are, but realistically speaking if i didnt get one on this board i probably wont get on the next. That's a reality check for me.
What does your message say on the AFROTC Scholarship site?

I found my old letter so I know the dates now!

My message: "Your application met the board and you were not selected for a scholarship. You will be receiving written confirmation via mail within the next few weeks."

Does not say that I will be on a new board. I have no reason to believe I wouldn't but any insight would be much appreciated.

I have the same message on mine, nothing about meeting the next board. I really thought I was a competetive candidate too. Guess it is local college for me.

Hopefully the message does not actually mean your application and mom2fiv's daughter's won't meet the next board. Try to stay optimistic until the letter arrives (and hopefully provides more / good news) or the message changes. Good luck to both of you.:thumb:
