Anybody granted a waiver yet?

Hope everyone is doing well. I was DQed in August but USMA requested a waiver shortly after. My medical status is still under waiver review; however, I am only curious if USMA has begun processing and granting/rejecting waivers. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

I don't think 'under waiver review' necessarily means that a waiver has been requested, it says that for me for USNA and that's been since the beginning of October.

edit: haven't been asked for AMI yet.

My DS's portal says "under waiver review", but he DID receive a letter that he was 2Q except for medical, and that they were beginning the waiver process. That was mid October. No updates at all since then. Meanwhile, USAFA and USNA both issued waivers.

I would reach out to your field force rep/regional commander (RC) to ask for an update. They may be able to get the process moving if you check in with them. I got DQ’ed for the medical portion and requested a waiver in January, then received a waiver and got cleared in March. My situation was a bit different, however, because I got my appointment in December of last year. Then DoDMERB somehow realized that they missed something in my medical file and DQ’ed me AFTER I accepted my appointment, which was nerve wracking. I was in constant communication with my field force and RC to get the situation sorted out. Hope this helps!

when they sent the letter, had he submitted the full application, or was it partially incomplete? Just curious.

Thanks for the correction.

I am in the same situation with USNA medically. I recently emailed with my Admissions Officer and he said he would send my file to the medical department, but I still have not been asked for AMI. But West Point sent me a letter in my portal saying that they were requesting a waiver for me.

Thank you! I recently emailed my RC and all he said was that they were waiting for a medical determination. I probably just need to wait. Thank you for your help!

My DS is in the same boat. USMA DQd in August, almost immediately received a letter stating that they were pursuing a waiver and that the process takes 90 days. He is now over 120 days....

Everything on his end was complete. CFA, medical exam, all parts of the application except the FFR interview was completed by August 1. Interview done early Sept. He received a letter that USMA was pursuing a waiver consideration for him on Sept 20. He received the 2Q letter on Oct 24. No correspondence since then (other than from FFR), but he hasn't expected to hear anything yet. They estimate 90-120 days, but I know that's just an estimate. Hope that info helps. I know it's all highly individualized, but like you, I look for similarities with good outcomes and hope. Best of luck to you!

Quick question - DS received an email today that was just an update from his RC - mass email to the region. In it, it mentioned that if you're in the medial waiver review process, to be checking DODMETS weekly for any updates or requests for information. Has this always been the case? In the initial waiver email it only ever mentioned DODMERB, not DODMETS. When USNA did the waiver review for the same disqualifying condition, it came through DODMERB (and through a separate email - they wanted the response to be sent to them as well as sent to DODMERB). We hadn't had any activity for USMA in DODMERB. After seeing this email, DS logged into DODMETS and apparently there was a remedial request there (exactly the same one that USNA had asked for). It shows as incomplete in DODMETS so DS is calling them to try to show as complete since it was actually done a couple of months ago.

So my question - did anyone know that USMA uses DODMETS for remedial requests and why didn't this come through DODMERB?

My ds had to got through DODMETS to satisfy an AMI (needed an xray) when he went through the process. However, the AMI was still posted in DODMERB. Strange that that it didn't automatically get updated to USMA when it was submitted for USNA. Good thing the RC sent out the email.

DS got DQ’d early August. A waiver was requested on 28Aug. Waiver was approved end of October. DS had to provide AMI in support of the waiver request. We were told review process was from 30-90 days.

My take after posting several inquiries and getting very few responses: West Point processes waivers as they accept applicants, but the 90 days is complete nonsense. They will do it in 60 days (such as with SwimDad above) if they want you, or make you wait much longer if you are still in the "maybe" pile. My son had enough. He received a letter from his RC that it would take 90 days, waited about 130 days, sent numerous emails and phone calls to his RC, and after getting no response, he pulled his app to pursue more definite courses. I can't say I blame him. You can't send a letter stating it will take 90 days and then months later just expect a kid to keep waiting with zero communications. I warned my kid the Army was jacked up - he learned.

I was Medically DQed November 1, and West Point requested a Waiver for me November 30th. Today is day 43 since the request was sent and still no waiver. They do say 90-120 days but I am unsure of how closely they stick to that. I do believe some waivers have been granted it just depends on what you've been DQed for.

For DD, it was in the 60-90 day window, but it was earlier in the cycle - they might be busier at this point.

My son waited until day 130 and then withdrew his application. His letter said it would take 90 days,. That came and went.

Hello! DS was given the 90-120 window on Sept 5 but still no word. DS received a 2Q letter in October and has three nominations. As a USMA grad myself, I told DS this is one of the most important Army lessons of “hurry up and wait!”

Do you have nomination?
