Anyone hear for AROTC?

So, I accidentally logged in to my application website for the cholarship, and for the first time it came up with a different message.

"The application has detected your email address was used to create an application for the 2013 school year, this application can be edited until 3-1-2013."

Its never said that before, does that mean I am being boarded for the final board? If so, then my lack of selection so far is not as depressing as I thought.

So did they update all the statuses at once or will they be updating them throughout the day?

The previous board updated throughout the day and even over a 2 or 3 day period, if I remember correctly. Don't give up hope yet.

No - the reason why this is stated, is because if you look down to the next button, it states: "Apply/UPDATE Application for School Year 2014"

The reason why you are seeing this, is because the application is now OPEN to current high school juniors of the Class of 2014 to start their application.

Whereas the senior Class of 2013 still has the ability to EDIT their application until the mentioned date; 3/1/13.

Basically - CC is asking, are you making modifications to a current application OR are you starting a new application.

Stay optimistic! A winner will certainly not win if he has the mindset that he will lose right from the getgo. Remember you did all that you possibly could to this point - it is out of your hands now. And regardless of what happens - you have to accept it for what it is & move on.

If you have not received any good news regarding scholarships, keep in mind that today is the application deadline for many colleges. You may need to widen your net.

DS got scholarship. Eagerly awaiting letter.

Does Cadet Command release stats on all the recipients?

I'm pleased for our DS, and hope all works out for those waiting for notice. It is extremely competitive this year as I see well qualified men and women.

Lurker mom here. Just checked my DS status and - he got his scholarship at his first choice school!!! (Siena!) He hasn't received a letter yet. Is there a way to read the portal to find out if it is a 3 or 4 year scholarship?
Thanks for any helpyou can provide.
Celebrating here tonight.

No, all that information will be in the letter. Your son could contact the ROO at his new battalion and ask, they should be able to tell you.

Congratulations to your son.

No. The term(s) of the scholarship are only available in the letter.
Congratulations. Siena is a fine school and I have a cousin who may be attending there next year.

Edit: cross posted with Jcleppe.

Thanks! We'lll be anxiously waiting for the letter.

Onemore question .... assuming it's a 3 year scholarship, we'll have to figure out the best way to pay for Siena (about $42K per year - $30K tuition,$10K room and board, + books, etc). I transferred my Post 9/11 GI bill benefits to DS (I am eligible for 80% only - not 100% because my deployment was less than 36 months, so Yellow Ribbon benefits do not kick in). Has anyone used both this benefit AND an ROTC scholarship?

I can barely spell GI Bill so hopefully someone more knowledgeable will jump in.
I would think you could use the tuition benefit his first year, but keep in mind that for Siena, as a private school, there is a cap. It looks like the cap is a little more than 18K per year. I would expect he could use the Book and Supply stipend freshman year as well. He should be able to use the housing allowance all four years, or until it runs out (I think you said you had 36 months of benefits... that might cover 4 years at 9 months a year.. I don't know) That's my surmise from what I read. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will jump in.

You can't be the only person in the country in this situation now, or over the past several years. I would think someone in Veteran Affairs would be able to help you sort this out. I expect there is an expert on the subject of the intersection of GI Bill benefits and ROTC scholarships (but then I've been disappointed before).

Good Luck! Siena is a great school. Congratulations to your son.
