Does anybody have any experience in getting their application deadline extended. I have a deadline of November 10th, do you know if it is possible to move my deadline to the second rolling deadline on January 31st?

Why? The military isn't real big on giving extensions. It'd better be a darn good reason or I imagine their answer will something along the lines of, "you had 4 months, was it not important enough for you to get it done?" That being said, I guess it never hurts to ask...

Currently, I am on the enlistment process to joint USAF. I am an immigrant, and I have been working with my recruiter since the time I walked in into his office for guidance. I gave all the necessary paperwork to be enlisted including my permanent resident card and college diplomas. I took my height and weight, but unfortunately I was overweight by 12lbs. He instructed me to work on my weight try to do away with the extra 12lbs, of which I did. Thereafter, I called him to discuss the next step, but unfortunately he told me that he had to evaluate my college diploma again. Kindly advise me, should I wait or should try the other units like navy or army.

I would recommend you stay in touch and be active in the process as much as you can. If you want to look into the Army or Navy, it wouldn't hurt. It's always good to look at other options and compare them. But, do remember this; do not jump to another branch of service solely for the purpose of 'serving just to serve'. Ultimately, you're the one that has to wear that uniform each and every day, conform to the core values, and perform your job. If the USAF is your first choice, stay in contact with the recruiter, ask questions, etc. See what they offer you. Understand the mission of the USAF, look into the missions of the others. Weigh your pro's and con's, etc. If you're setting a timetable to serve, then you're going to limit your options. As with all branches, "Service needs come first". Therefore, the check your recruiter is doing is a needed function, it's part of the process when determining manning needs. Hope this helps.

Kirio, as I understand it, you want to enlist in the Air Force. Your question is not especially relevant to this forum, indeed to this thread. I suggest you put your question in another section.

Educated, you do not say the reason for your extension request. Family emergency? School burned down? (Sad because Hillary didn't win? OK, that was snarky)

Generally, in the military, deadlines are deadlines. Though it is not always true. Contact your ALO or discuss with an admissions counselor.

You should see the long faces around here, women wearing black, etc.

Now now Wishful... women wear black all the time now... even to weddings... which I find hilarious.

OK, we've hijacked Educated's thread here.

Educated, when you complete the bulk of your application, you will receive notification that you have met the requirement for the deadline given. For example if you started in August but then went away for a month but come back...start filling in forms, have your school send your transcript, send your SAT scores and just start working your way down the check list, you will be ok--and you will automatically get the beyond the four month extension. I cannot tell you at what point you meet the requirement, but a quick phone call to your regional admissions specialist might tell you--and hte truth is, you could say, "I would like to ask this question, and I would like to not out myself for asking it." They are handling thousands of applications right now--so don't worry, you won't be judged but you will get the straight answers you need.

If you are holding up because you are waiting to complete Eagle Scout or some other great accomplishment--it is ok to lean in and ask...your packet might be stronger if you wait for it to be reviewed later...but USAFA has to know...and you should be working on the items that you can easily do at home.

I re-read your original question. The November deadline is the one that is four months after you opened your portal. That is YOUR PERSONAL DEADLINE--not the final deadline. Call and talk to your regional adviser--but first, sit down and do what you can do to start getting checks in those boxes--some of the items--like the drug statement are easy--you watch the video, you complete the form... for the letters of rec, you print the request letter and bring it to your teachers and guidance counselor--all of that is tracked by means of checks in the box. Have you completed your candidate information yet? Sit down, fill it in--it does not take long--and submit it. Show USAFA admissions that you are doing your best to get it done.
