Nothing here in Texas either. My DD has been waiting and about a week ago she was able to reach out to admissions to add a few more accomplishments to her application. The counselor told her she did everything she could and now it’s time to wait. I am guessing since she was able to add that her application that it had not been reviewed yet.Just checking in… anyone have anything new and exciting in the portal this week? Nothing here!

We are TX 22. Do you also have a son or daughter attending A&M? My DD was accepted into A&M’s engineering school, but has decided on Colorado School of Mines if she does not receive admission to USAFA.What district are you in? We are TX 36.
I have one Aggie grad and one there now. My USAFA hopeful will also go there AFROTC if this doesn’t work out.We are TX 22. Do you also have a son or daughter attending A&M? That is wonderful! A&M is a fantastic school. Gig’ Em! This waiting has been very stressful, but regardless of the outcome it looks like both of our kids have great backup plans. Wishing the best for both of our kids and everyone that is still waiting.I have one Aggie grad and one there now. My USAFA hopeful will also go there AFROTC if this doesn’t work out.
Mines is a fantastic school! We had a campus tour over Spring Break. It is a very nice campus with wonderful resources for the students to ensure their academic success as well as their future endeavors. Wishing your DS the best!TX-26 for us. DS still pending as well. He’s accepted into several great engineering schools as backups and it looks like CO School of Mines has topped his civilian list too. He will accept another SA appointment that he has first though.
Which TAMU outfit is your USAFA hopeful thinking about? That is our new plan B conundrum. So many choices. Mine will be AFROTC as well.I have one Aggie grad and one there now. My USAFA hopeful will also go there AFROTC if this doesn’t work out.
He’s had a good bit of recruiting from 6 but also considering 21. He says he’s been told you really can’t go wrong with any of them though.Which TAMU outfit is your USAFA hopeful thinking about? That is our new plan B conundrum. So many choices. Mine will be AFROTC as well.
Hi, may I ask what TD stands for and also does a Principal Nom mean that your DS won his slate for MOC nomination? Thank you - newby trying to get up to speed for DS starting the process.Just an update: our DS got the TD from USAFA today. We had started thinking that this late in the game with a principal nom and no appointment, it was not looking good. On to plan B! If you are still waiting… best of luck to you!

TD, turndown. Unfortunately, seen in abundance across SAF right now.Hi, may I ask what TD stands for and also does a Principal Nom mean that your DS won his slate for MOC nomination? Thank you - newby trying to get up to speed for DS starting the process.
Ah this clears up a lot. So, with the person above (AggieMom), her DS got a Principal nom, but looks like he got a TD today. According to your definition above shouldn't he have gotten an appointment??TD, turndown. Unfortunately, seen in abundance across SAF right now.
Win the slate. The fully qualified applicant who is offered the appointment that will likely be charged to the MOC, regardless of what method the MOC used to submit the slate of up to 10 nominees.
Principal nom. Not the most commonly used method of slate submission. One applicant is designated the principal nom. If the applicant is fully qualified, legal language forces USMA and USAFA to offer an appointment to that applicant, regardless of how that person’s candidate score compares to others. USNA has slightly different legal language with wiggle room not to do it.
Fully qualified, or triple qualified. Medically, DoDMERB. Physically, CFA. Scholastically/academically, everything else they evaluate. The nom is an administrative requirement.

Go read the pinned post at the top of the Nominations forum. Good “Noms 101” overview. The Search function can also be a huge help, as this comes up often. What is a principal nomination?
Very interesting info. This whole process is a roller coaster ride I’m just beginning. It’s almost like a “yes” may not really mean a yes and a “no” sometimes changes to a yes. I’m sure the selection process is insane for the Academies. Can I ask how competitive your district is? Do you know how many candidates he went against? Thank youGood evening! I took the day off to process the TD with DS today. We really do not know where he fell short. Was he 3q? How would we really know? When his MOC called with his nomination, he told him “ he was so excited to have a fully qualified candidate from our area”. That’s really all we had to go by. He passed CFA, he was cleared medically, and was top 3 percent of class. Lots of leadership roles. President of NHS, varsity baseball captain, golf captain, drumline captain…. The list goes on. I think if I were guessing based on other TD I’ve seen with near perfect ACT and SAT scores… that’s where he fell short. I would initially have thought he would get a prep offer but it has become clear that amazing candidates with no academic shortcomings have been offered those spots. That is not what we’re told about how that worked. Neither here nor there.
The bottom line is our DS had an excellent resume, and many others had more. And we are very honored to have been part of this amazing group of candidates. To all who got an appointment, many congratulations! There is something to learn from everything, and our DS will learn many valuable lessons from this rejection no matter the sting. I truly wish all the incoming Class of 2028 all the best!
