Appointment!

Congratulations, I just got my appointment tonight too!!!

Now on to DoDMERB...

Also because I know a lot of people have been talking about this, I didn't get a call from anyone. Just checked my portal and there it was. Email came shortly after the portal updated.

DS got his Bear Den updated tonight with an appointment. So they are starting to come in! FYI she got an email saying a change was made.
Were you an EA deferred to RA or just RA?

Just RA. Was told I couldn't do early action because I was a re-applicant who did not make the wait list last year.
Do you mind sharing your experience from getting declined on your initial Early/Regular Application to then successfully getting an appointment as a RA reapplicant?

Did you have feedback from your AO on how/why you fell short in your initial application to work on? What steps did you proactively take over next 12 months to improve your application such as prep school or traditional college? Thanks in advance.

I got straight up denied in EA last year, no deferral to RA. I reached out to my admissions officer and told him I was determined to go to the academy and he went through my application with me and told me what I fell short on. I decided to go to a military junior college (look up Marion Military Institute or Georgia Military College) and try my shot as a non-sponsored cadet. Here I actually had an opportunity to meet with CAPT Fredie and go over my application. I took lots of notes and made sure to do everything he told me to do. Aside from following the specific advice that I received, I basically did exactly what you'd expect a self-prep to do. I got good grades, improved my PFE, improved my standardized test scores, and spent more time writing better essays than I did last year, and it all paid off. Now I'm not quite there yet. I'm still anxiously awaiting a medical waiver, but that isn't exactly something that I can do anything about beyond reaching out to various people until it eventually goes through.

That's a brief overview of what I did. If you or your DS have any questions about the self-prep experience you can DM me, but if your DS is seriously considering this path he should really reach out to his admissions officer as his AO can give him actual qualified and personal advice. I'm just some kid who worked hard and probably ran into a little bit of luck along the way.

Congratulations! You sound like the type of applicant that CAPT Fredie could point to as an example of exactly what you should do if you are turned down. Obviously CGA noticed that you took the time to learn what CGA considered the weaknesses of your application, and then improved not only those items, but everything else about your application as well. Good luck to you with the medical waiver. I'm rooting for you.

Hi.
Any insight on # of folks that have posted acceptances on CGA SAF vs. actual? I read on other SAF posts it may be a 1-10... and insight on CGA?
Last year for the Class of 2027, I think about 62 updated the Appointment thread. The class on Day 1 was 300. Hope that is what you were looking for, and gives you an idea of ratio.

Great story! That's awesome and congrats again on setting your mind to a goal and achieving it. Hopefully my DS will join you this summer in CT, else he'll reach out to you to ask about your MMI experiences and weigh it versus other self prep options.

19 days and counting. one way or another, plan a or full speed at plan b. Been a long time waiting since EA.
My DD is in the same boat. We were really hoping to cancel the college tour weekend we are doing in North Carolina so we could save some money. But since we haven't heard anything we'll be taking to trip to see two more schools that she already got accepted to but wants to meet the swim coaches and see the campuses.
