Report date for Indoc Class of 2013 is 9 July 2009
Parents weekend is 11 Sept. - 13 Sept. Make sure you arrive on Thursday as you will be able to go to class with your child Friday morning. Also, in the past special lib has been given to the Plebe Candidates on Sunday so they don't have to be back at KP until 1800 Sunday. If you can stay Sunday night you'll get to spend more time with your child and also get to watch them muster sunday night.

DS had a conditional appointment in mid-November (conditional on medical exam). Had nominations from both Senator and Congressman by December. Had his DODMERB physical in mid December.
Finally, FINALLY received medical waiver (for near-sightedness, of all things) on March 5, received letter with unconditional appointment on March 9.
Note: He received his eye waiver from the CGA on February 5. After a couple of weeks with no word from MMA, he called. It seems there was some kind of snafu (somebody on maternity leave, his conditional appointment was given so early before his medical exam, etc.) and his file was sitting in limbo - no medical waiver was being pursued!!
If he hadn't called and followed up, who knows what would have happened. As a result of the phone call, Capt. Johnson said he'd have an answer in 2 weeks, and sure enough, in exactly 2 weeks, he had the waiver.

Glad your child got it all cleared up ParkerMom. I assume from your note that your son got an appointment to CGA as well as USMMA? If he's having trouble choosing, here is a link to an article written by a senior at Kings Point today. Please take a min to read it as it truly does give an idea of what an education at Kings Point is. My son choose Kings Point and has never regretted that decision.

He's only keeping Florida Institute of Technology on the line in case, as he puts it, he breaks his leg or something before July 9.
FIT has a VERY good marine engineering program and they offered him a very generous financial aid package, (and they have excellant scuba diving so close at hand) so it's a good 'fail safe'.

Is there an official rugby coach? As a club sport they usually hire their own coach. You may try contacting the athletic department at the school and they may be able to put you in touch with a midshipman on the team who can get you more information.

Congratulations and good luck. Welcome to the KP family.
In regard to mwcole's question about the rugby team, you may want to contact Peter Moser, <Peter.Moser.2009@usmma.edu>, who is the team captain. I was able to find him through the Met NY RFC, found it while web searching for KP rugby. Currently it's only a club sport and they get no funds to pay a coach, sounds like many other RFC's around the country! Peter is a senior and won't be there next year but was very helpful with our questions. The way I understand it, they essentially coach themselves. The guys with experience help out the one's that don't. Please let us know what else you find out or if you play. My son is really interested in going to KP, but has another year of HS. Loves Rugby.
