April AROTC Board

The wait you are going through now is one of the most frustrating. I think it is because there are multiple parties involved: CC has to send your information to DODMERB, DODMERB has to set you up in their system, then DODMERB has to forward your information to CONCORD (the contractor that manages the medical exams), CONCORD then sends you the letter with the names of the doctors you are to call and schedule your exam with.

I don't know of any way to shorten this process. You can take some comfort in knowing that things are happening even if you can't see it. I think it took about 2 weeks back in December for the DODMERB portal to become active after the CC portal showed the "DODMERB status message". The good news, from our experience, is that CONCORD and DODMERB do a good job of moving exams along, addressing remedials quickly, etc.

Good luck!

Or, havana, like in my son's case a few weeks back he got a letter in the mail a week later with his offer of a campus based scholarship. His status changed on a Wed. night and nothing on the web site but then got the offer and this was from a school he took off his list back in November! He had not even applied to that school. But "all is good" as we then visited the campus, applied and on our way awaiting the physcial. Can anyone tell me about this process? We were told we have to wait for the packet in the mail to schedule...has anyone been able to do it any other way....On the Dodmerb site it does not recognize him yet...again it's been 10 days since he accepted the scholarship. Thoughts?

It is our experience with a campus-based scholarship that the unit arranges the authorization to schedule with Concorde once your paperwork is complete. CC has nothing to do with your campus-based scholarship from this point out. I would talk to your ROO once your paperwork is returned.

Just a little hint. I was waiting for the paperwork from DODMERB also to schedukle my son's physical. I found COncord's website, and if you log into it with your child's SSN and the last name is the password at first. You can see who they are allowed to schedule the physical for. You can also track the process of when DODMERB received the physical data and also schedule REmedial appts if needed!!

The website is : https://www.dodmets.com/

Good Luck!!

Keep checking the CC site. Usually within 24 hours or so the status will change again to list the school(s) the scholarship is at.

But I'm sooooo impatient! Why did this have to happen over the weekend? I have been obsessing over it and losing sleep. You'd think this was MY scholarship!

Have you called the schools? If it's a national scholarship then they will be able to see it on the computer.

My son had emailed with his school early April and he was told that he wasn't picked for the March boards and was told that was the last boards (which we know isn't correct). He didn't apply to any other school even though he listed them because he was admitted to his #1 school in September. Either way, he's going there no matter what, but it'll be nice to be able to use the scholarship there.

My back-up is to reapply for a campus based scholarship next year. I have a $2k scholarship per year at the moment so that will help a bit but I'm really hoping I dont have to resort to that.

But hey! Everything happens for a reason.

Why aren't you applying for campus-based for this year?

I think what plmmar means is that there are still campus based scholarships available now for 2010-11. Several applicants are pursuing these as backups if they did not get a scholarship for next year from CC.

Oh yeah I will be pursuing one next year but to my knowledge I can start that path until next year.

It all depends on your schools. Some schools seemed to have given out their campus based scholarships already and many have not. For the schools that my son was looking at they have not awarded them yet.

You need to call your ROTC Battalion at the school that you are going to and inquire. If you haven't decided on which school yet, then call your top choices and inquire.

Army rotc has campus-based scholarships still available depending on the school. For instance, the one ds is going to has 7-4yr scholarships still available and 4-3yr scholarships. They will be awarded over the summer before school starts in the fall.
The Navy may do it differently.

Oh, I just assumed they would be gone by now. When my contact gets back to me I will make sure to ask about campus based scholarships.

Just checked my status today and it said : You may check your medical qualification status by visiting the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board DoDMERB WebSite!

I was so relieved....

Did it just change for you today, or is it the first time you've checked in a few days? We got the same message either late Friday/sometime Saturday but the list of schools isn't up for us yet!

And Congratulations!

Thank you. It's been a week, and STILL no list of schools. B U U U U T . . .

Got the call yesterday from #1 school and he was offered a 4 year scholarsihp! I can breathe now!
