Hello, I got into NAPS and I know I can't have braces while there, but are they allowed while attending USNA. I had braces while in the 8th and 9th grade and my teeth were fixed, but my teeth have now started shifting and my dentist says I need them again. Grateful for any information you can give!

No, you cannot enter with orthodontic care in progress. Retainers are permitted. You can have orthodontic care done after you arrive though- on their timetable, so just hold off.

My kid just got braces, courtesy of the Academy. Had an old baby tooth that never came out, so they yanked it and rigged braces up to get the normal tooth to come in. Bit of a surprise for him!

My teeth were crooked through my enlisted service and NAPS. When I entered my 2d class year the USNA tooth fairies gave me the opportunity to get braces. You’ll see dental plebe summer. You can ask them when you get there if you might be a candidate for braces there and what the timeline might be. Good luck!
