Are you planning to go to the Navy-Notre Dame in Dublin Ireland? Or have you ever gone to Navy game in Dublin?

DW and I were looking to see if other parents have attended in the past or will be attending the USNA Alumni Association & Foundation Official Navy Pre-game Tailgate at Lansdown Rugby Club.

We will catch up with our Youngster after the game (want him and his crew to enjoy themselves) or for dinner possibly Friday. My Marine Rugby friend recommended Jack Ryan’s Beggars Bush. While the place looks awesome, we are hoping to 'pre-game' with Navy parents and fans rather than being overwhelmed by ND fans. The game is a sell out and I expect to be out numbered 3-1 by ND fans. As a result we were thinking of attending the USNA Alumni Association & Foundation Official Navy Pre-game Tailgate at Lansdown Rugby Club. I am curious if anyone has attended the Official Navy Pre-game Tailgate in the past in Dublin, and if Parents and families attend or is it mostly allumni.

It should be a great week, hope to catch up with some other USNA Parents on game day.

My Mid will be there, but not us.

It’s pretty exciting to start hearing chatter on the airwaves! Syndicated shows are talking over/understand, odds and spreads! Also several I’ve heard are hoping to broadcast live!

I’m super excited to see the new Navy team.

I know nationally it will be broadcast on NBC as all ND home games are.

DH and I will be there - as will our Mid (Youngster). We will be at the tailgate event at the Rugby Club also. This will be our first trip - so we’re eager to also hear about others’ experiences.

Wondering where the Mids will be staying - DS hasn’t heard anything yet.

Cool! Glad to hear another Youngster parent is going. Our 1st as well. I can pm you later.

Something to get you all in the mood here:

DH and I have attended the last 2 Navy-ND games in Dublin (see my posts in the thread that got started several months ago) and made them the centerpiece of driving vacations there. Not going this year, DH is having a med procedure done and we are staying in-CONUS for travel in 2023.

Nice music but that Band won't be playing near any events. It is the HM Royal Marine Band.

Festive Yes but the dancers were pretty bad. Found out the Irish Defence Force has the Irish Defence Forces School of Music established in 1922 with three Bands and Pipers. They will probably be around for the festivities.:band:

I went last time. We had a blast. And we were way our numbered by ND fans. The locals were wonderful and declared they liked Navy fans much more. We went in a week early to the game and did all our sightseeing on the front end and left the day after the game. As game day got closer alot more fans. If I was going I would do the alumni association tailgater. They are generally well done, out of the elements, restrooms, food.

Glad we didn't make plans to go, as we were close! Daughter's coach just told them "ND game is out"...I feel for those who made plans years ago!

Same plans for us - doing the Galway/Dublin package prior to the game. Hope to see our Mid at some point! No doubt it’s a fast and furious trip for the Mids, but it will be a blast. Good to hear about the Alum Tailgater - definitely plan to do that.
