Good morning, everyone

It is my understanding that those individuals awarded a NROTC Scholarship are required to attend the 2.5 week training in Great Lakes, Illinois over the summer in order to have their scholarship "activated" and begin their respective tenure at their unit. Is there a mandatory equivalent for the Army or is it only the PFA. And if it is only the PFA is the form we submitted on our Application valid, or does it have to be re-assessed.

No, not a centralized AROTC indoctrination like Navy does with New Student Indoctrination for NROTC national scholarship winners at Great Lakes. Army/ Navy/ Air Force ROTC programs at the unit/ university though have a level of NSO New Student Orientation, where students will arrive to campus early for the Fall semester, and for X number of days 3,4,6 whatever the university plans arrive, complete uniform and equipment distribution, and begin their training, pass a PRT early on, etc. typically an intense few days that may start at 4:45AM or whatever. The Army does have key summer training midway through a four year cycle called Advanced Camp, which is a must pass to continue on with your training.

Hope that helps and advise if you have any clarifying questions.

At my son's school the AROTC Cadets all arrive a week before school starts for what they call Basic week. It is run by the MSIV's, it includes all the above mentioned. Contracting Cadets must pass the ACFT that week, or shortly thereafter. Just to clarify, Advanced Camp for AROTC happens between Junior and Senior year in the summer.

There is Basic Camp that serves a similar purpose of indoctrination event but that is only mandatory for lateral entry Cadets or ECP Cadets

For the AROTC NSO, do cadets just move in to the residence hall early?
This is likely unit specific. Some may do early move into dorms, some probably have a central location they keep them all for the week or so of Basic week. Probably have to reach out to the unit to find out.
