Baby Girl (not so baby anymore) has been expressing her desire to go to the Academy the past 2 years. I promised her I'd take her along with Granddaddy (Class of '56) to the Army-Navy game if she was still interested in applying her Junior year. The desire has only grown and she starts her Junior year in two weeks. I now have flights, tickets and hotel rooms. Granddaddy is going to get us seats on the the Alumni bus from Annapolis to the game and the tailgate. What I am trying to determine now is what activities she can participate in on Friday and Saturday to get a taste of some of the enjoyable side of Midshipmen life. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

not really sure about friday night...mids will be on the yard...but for saturday tailgaters...

Not sure how to answer this one as the game is in DC this year. Traditionally in Philly every year they host a pep rally and there are a bunch of dinners and festivities down town the night before the game. Not sure what they plan on this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a pep rally either in DC, National Harbor or even in Annapolis that night. If she is really that interested in attending the academy I would recommend you spend time on the yard on Friday and even drop by the admissions office. It will probably be a pretty fun day around there. I am guessing Friday night in Annapolis could be a little more crazy than normal as alot of alumni will spend their Friday evening there before the game. Also tailgating on Saturday morning will also help her get a feeling of what the alumni network and rivalry are really all about.

There are corporate activties as well. USAA holds a festival outside the stadium on game day. The GALA is great on Friday night. There is also the marsh on by both SA's. I saw it last it last year in Philly. It is awesome, this game make me proud to be an American. It is also make me proud there are young men and women, who choose to do this. They are the best and brightest of this grreat country. It gave me chills and teared me up. If you want more info on activities for the weekend. Here is contact info:

ARMY-NAVY is so much more than a "game"....it's unique to all other sporting events...so much tradition, emotion and EXCITEMENT and not to be missed if the opportunity to attend a game is presented :thumb:.......but........ a NAVY home game( Air Force plays at NAVY this year, Oct 1st, 1200 hrs ) might be a better match for a multi-day future candidate visit to USNA.

GO NAVY,

Looked at AF game since that is Father-in-law's Class of '56 55yr reuinon, but that is my 30yr HS reunion is in Miami that week and Granddaddy has gotten too worn out to babysit.

Kid had to graduate so I can't get tickets through current MID:mad: Here is the 2012 venue information for Notre Dame-Navy. Another great tradition.

ARMY/NAVY is one of the best games ever and if you can make it it is a great experience. I think it is on the sports bucket list. Just make sure the President isn't attending and if he/she is get there real early. The security lines are a nightmare.
