Army ROTC 2023-2024 2nd Board

My son also having the same issue, cannot log in saying his password is incorrect.
He only found out he got a 4 year scholarship today because his two top schools emailed him to congratulate him.
But he still hasn't been able to log in to get his letter.
You may have to use the password reset feature. We experienced the same issue, where it was saying the user name and password were not correct. Use this link to get an email to reset your password. Then you should be able to get in.

My DS still cannot log in to the portal since it went down, but he did get emails today from ROO at 2 schools (Cornell and Notre Dame) congratulating him on his 4 year scholarship awarded to their universities.
It is usually 3 schools that are awarded, or does it vary?
Wishing he could log on to get his letter and see his list, but also so grateful to have the emails to know he was awarded the 4 year scholarship!
FWIW, my DS also received only two school offers in his winner letter. They were his top two, but I always thought you typically got three as well. Obviously, that is not necessarily the case.

But, as many others have said, it really does not matter. If your DS/DD is accepted to another school where they prefer to attend, it's an easy thing to submit a scholarship transfer request to Cadet Command, and these requests are typically approved provided the program where you want to go is not already full.

More information about submitting transfer requests can be found under the "Additional Information" section of the portal.

My DS received a 3 yr scholarship to: Baylor, Clemson & Auburn
Congrats to your son! Looks like our boys applied to the same schools. My husband and son visited Baylor and TCU yesterday and were very impressed by both. They spent a lot of time with TCU's ROTC department and couldn't have been more thrilled with all the opportunities there. Since TCU and Baylor are both run by the same PMS, I'm guessing Baylor's ROTC group will be equally awesome! Is your son leaning toward one particular school?

oh that's cool! My DS loved Baylor a year ago when we visited, then fell in love with Auburn and now he is just confused.. He applied to USMA and is now 3Q and still hoping that turns into an official appointment. I do love Baylor however, it was really something special.

My son is also really torn between TCU and Baylor. I'm sure we will eventually have to force him to make a decision or he'll waiver back and forth until the last minute! Good luck with the USMA appointment! That's such an incredible accomplishment.

I got an email for a ECP scholarship, which I know nothing about. Does this mean I didn't receive a rotc scholarship? My website still says boarded/underconsideration for january.
Research this option. Here, for the last board and query on the site. There is another chat group for this. Call your ROO. Google it, too.

My son was offered this in the first round. He called his ROO and was immediately offered a school based 3-yr AD ROTC scholarship. Which is the same as the national 3-yr, but it isn't transferable to other schools. The ROO also was able to look at my son's board review sheet to tell him that his GPA was the only thing holding him back from the first round 4 year, as they had a 3.7 GPA cut off and my son's was below that. Covid virtual learning and home alone was not his friend. BUT he had everything else, including strong leadership. My son wants to fly helicopters and his top choice and the 3 year will help him do that faster...as long as he passes flight medical. So he had to upload the IKE offer letter on the ROTC national site with it marked intent to decline. He got bumped out of the National board for the second two rounds, but he is thrilled and heading to where he wants to go.

Being offered an IKE isn't a negative. They saw something in you and don't want to lose you. In fact, they want to get you in a leadership role sooner than later. The ECP allows your service years to start two years earlier, so retirement comes earlier. You get an associates with tuition and board 100% covered. Then, you transfer to any four year of your choice on the Army's dime. There is a pathway to active duty so look closely and don't rule it out based on verbage here. Talk to the four schools. You go in as an MS 3 to the JMA. So you skip the peon years. You serve as a 2LT in the National Guard once you graduate...with your associates...do drill, but are non-deployable until you finish you Bacheloers degree.

There are tons of positives. I encourage you to look closely. There are many different paths to the same end goal. And some board applicants won't be offered a scholarship at all. Keep your options open. Talk to your ROO. Tell them about the IKE offer. See what they have to say. Talk to the JMA schools. There have been some people who spoke with them who were told that if they decline but don't get a national or school based offer to come talk to them and they would honor the original IKE.

Keep your doors open. Be kind and respectful. Be positive. Write a thank you, if you speak to anyone. And do what you need to do...what is best for you...to get where you want to go.

My son has the 3 year scholarship, but that school does not cover room and board for scholarship winners. So he will have to pay 100% room and board. He would have paid nothing had he accepted the IKE.

Congratulations!

Also, there should be an offer letter under documents.

OMG, my DS is confused too! I think getting a scholarship offer suddenly made all this very real. Within minutes of hearing the good news he was already contemplating the options. I think we will have some follow up college visits on the horizon as we work through the medical qualification phase.

good luck to you as well! Your DS can't go wrong either way...

I think it all became real for my son when the college acceptance letters started rolling in. Now with the college visits, it's really hitting him that he needs to make a decision soon. It's super exciting but I can tell it's stressing him a bit. Luckily he has several great options before him. He really can't go wrong. What are your son's top schools?

He got scholarship offers for College of Charleston and Charleston Southern University. Those are his top two. Both are part of the Palmetto Battalion at The Citadel. The ROO at the Citadel is a great guy and really sold my DS on the program there. I have to say The Citadel is a very special place but I also agree with my DS that being in that military environment 24/7 isn't what I'd want for my 4 years. Those other schools give you the chance to have a regular college experience while still getting the benefit of fantastic military instruction at The Citadel and commissioning out of The Citadel Army ROTC program.

He's also been accepted to Liberty and Penn State (didn't really like it, too big) and is still waiting to hear from Bucknell which was a late flier on a Regular Decision application. Haven't visited Liberty or Bucknell yet so we all as a family have some things to figure out now.

Sounds like he has some great options! And I agree with the idea of wanting a more traditional college experience. The Citadel and the academies are very prestigious and such an honor to be accepted to, but it's a tough 4 years. It's not right for everyone. We encouraged our son to stick with a traditional college so he could have that type of experience while still working toward his goal of becoming an army officer.

TCU blows Baylor away on all competitions they have against each other! However I am biased as I have a IV at TCU. :)

He just heard from his 3rd school Georgetown. He's thrilled. Now if only all three admissions work out the same way. Wish all these schools had pull there.

I’ll tell my very competitive son that! 😁
Not to be an idiot, but what does”IV” stand for? I’m terrible with acronyms. 😬
