Hi. I am currently applying for an Army ROTC scholarship. I have learned Mandarin Chinese for five years but unfortunately you cannot major in Chinese at Texas A&M University (you can only minor in it). Since I can't major in Chinese, I put down that I will be majoring in international studies on my Texas A&M application. This may be a problem because on the ROTC application, there is no option for majoring in international studies... only international relations.
My questions are: What is the difference between international studies and international relations? Why is that? Do I have to change my major for A&M to match my ROTC application?
Also, I heard that there are tiers for scholarships and they are given out based on those tiers. Could someone tell me if that is true and/or explain the tier system?
Thanks.
