Everyone, even 4 year Scholarship winners get the first year to "try it out" before they are obligated to the Army.

What communication are you looking for, from what you wrote before you received an email stating you would be seen by the board. What does your status page say, Boarded U/C?, if so then your in the system and all you can do is wait. While it's true that there are people at Cadet Command that handle the applications, realize that there are over 10,000 applications that are started each year and not that many at Cadet Command to handle them.

If your status is Boarded U/C then your calls will probably continue to go unanswered, there is not enough time in the day for them to respond to someone just to confirm information. Just read this thread and the amount of questions and theories about the process, if everyone called Cadet Command the system would collapse.

Kinnmen was correct, this will probably be the least frustrating thing you deal with in the military.
 
OK, so over these past two boards I’ve gotten scattered letters from battalions ranging from Nebraska, SC, VA, NC and so forth. Today my email has been flooded with many, many, many schools. Obviously, there must be a glitch in the system. Or is this normal after the second board all sorts of places introducing themselves?

Except that his status isn't "Boarded U/C," it's "Board Ready," and through no fault of his.

TBH, it's not really helpful to people in his situation to say that this is somehow representative of what you should expect in the military. It's not. It's in fact totally unprofessional. To tolerate it is to excuse it, which is how ineptitude gets perpetuated.

Now I agree that, in the end, there probably isn't anything that can be done for him re Board 2, and he'll have to figure out how to proceed from here. But he is entirely justified in registering a public complaint concerning the slipshod manner in which his application was treated. Perhaps someone wearing the right shoulder boards might get wind of it -- or similar malfunctions -- and remind subordinates that real people are behind these applications and that they deserve competence, if not a scholarship, in having their applications assessed.
 
I am new here. I am grateful I found this forum because this is all new to us and I have learned a lot since I joined.
Our oldest (DS) has his Overnight/ROTC Interview and his Admissions interview the first week in Oct at his #1 (“I’m not going anywhere else!) school.
He had an amazing interview. PFT was great. He ran a 6:20 mile not sure if exact PU’s and SU’s but I believe he had full or almost full points.
His academics are above a 3.0 unweighted. Has taken many college courses since freshman year. Student Body President. Class VP, 2-3 varsity sports every year, Drama Club president and leading roles in every play/musical. He was a Boys State delegate. Chorus and All-County 4 years. Many other leadership roles in multiple organization and projects.
Anyway...you get the drift...his extra-curricular are tight.
The Lt Commander and ROO were very impressed with my son. (Their words.) The Lt. Commander even took the time to speak to me and introduce me to their dept administrator (logistics) person, so if I “needed anything next year”, I knew who to speak to. They told my son, and then told me, that he was an amazing candidate.
It was a wonderful positive experience.
DS was accepted to the university early November and we paid the deposit Thanksgiving week.
We let ROO know and received a “we are looking forward to having you a part of our battalion” email.
DS is all set with the university.
His ROTC App went in at the same time as University app.
He was moved to Boarded in November. Then it moved to Boarded/UC before the first board. After the first board, the message read,”Boarded/Under Consideration:
This applicant was boarded on the first Selection Board that convened on 09 DEC 19 and did not receive an offer from that board or are currently being boarded on our Selection Board that convened 13 JAN 20.”

It still shows the same today. I am trying to keep a cool head and not put any extra stress on DS, but I am getting a bit stir crazy.
Did anyone else have a similar message? Can anyone offer insight? I would really like to know if I need to prepare financially for next year. DS did receive an academic scholarship from the university for half a years tuition.
We also are fortunate that my husband works at a prestigious (and expensive) University that pays half their own tuition towards tuition at any university a dependent of an employee goes to. That grant is worth 26k and covers a big chunk of DS’s tuition, but can not be used for R&B. The ROTC program DS is entering covers everything (tuition, r&b, books, fees etc) for 3 & 4 year scholarship recipients.

Based on the message on DS’s portal page not moving since after 1st board...I am wondering if anyone has seen a similar message and still won a scholarship??
I know this is eating at DS and I am certainly no good at patience. 😂
Any advice or insight would be much appreciated.
 
Best practices say to have a plan B, C, or more in place. So yes plan to pay financially. Or something else.

Every year there are amazing candidates who’s plan A doesn’t come to fruition. Currently there are a couple threads going with your sons (almost) exact story.

Its not over yet for sure, but it’s prudent to have a solid plan B (and beyond).

The waiting is definitely the hardest part. There are pages and pages in the forum that deal with the speculation of what Boarded vs B/UC mean. The consensus seems to be that you move from B/UC to Boarded before an offer is made. Your DS has remained at B/UC since the 1st Board, which means he is still being considered. You have 1 more Board, but you are wise to start planning for plan B, C & D. Best of luck!

Sounds like he's still being considered, so try not to stress too much just yet. Maybe consider having him research some outside scholarships in the interim. DS's ROTC pays a part of his R&B, but not all (the school does). He spent some time over Christmas break looking for additional scholarships, and I think he applied for 4, hoping to be awarded 1 - every bit helps. Still waiting on updated semester transcripts to finish 2 of them actually. Several have deadlines in March, so there's still time to look into whether he thinks any would be a good fit for him to apply. Good luck to him!

I have not been following everyone, so forgive me if this has been answered already. Did anyone who was board on the first board and not get an offer (remained B/UC) get an offer on this board?
 
Well, I guess that means not all decisions are out yet... someone said that all results will be out 10-14 days after the board ends?

My DS was boarded first board last year and was awarded a scholarship on the 3rd board. One thing the ROO told him was that if he did not get a scholarship after the 3rd board he should reach back out to him because sometimes they have more scholarships available that are distributed through the battalion.
 
Thank you for answering my post! The waiting is the hardest part. We felt such a relief after DS got in to his 1st/only choice in November, and would just like to focus on the end of senior year.

My D us in the situation. Still at Boarded/UC. Only interesting thing has a friend with similiar stats but got message Wednesday that he was not getting a scholarship. That was before anything else came out Which I thought was interesting

I will say this, my DS got in under the wire. The person he was to interview with in our area simply would not return e mails or calls. He found two representatives in other areas to interview him two days before the due date. This was very frustrating. He ended up having a Skype interview with a rep who was 7 hours away. In fact, I am not sure the person from our area every got back with him

So back when I wrote this stuff my status had been left at "Board Ready" for the longest time, even after the Board had already met. That's when I made several attempts to representatives across Cadet Command to ask what that was about, as I had the suspicion that I was for some reason not looked at during the second board, despite having my materials in. Eventually I got a call during my 5th period class in school today from one person finally, and he asked what was up. I explained the situation to him, asked him to check his email, and he then contacted his supervisor on how to handle the situation. Later on I received a call from the supervisor stating that they would hold a mini Board of PMSs in the next hour to OML my application since they had no idea why my file was not reviewed. I thanked him, and later received notifications that I received a 4 year scholarship for WashU in St. Louis, Rice, and Cornell! I guess @kinnem 's advice on perseverance was undoubtedly true, and congrats to all who have or will receive a scholarship this time around. Cheers!
