So the latest word my son has been told is that Branching results/assignments should be out before the Thanksgiving break which for my son's school starts on Saturday, November 21st. Could that even be possible?

I was out of the mix last year but my daughters group in 2012 didn't find out until February or March, just a couple months before graduating. Heck, her group didn't even find out whether they were getting AD or Reserves until December so i guess anything is possible.

Good luck to all those AROTC cadets out there waiting. May all your dreams come true!!

Branching results are out today. My son hasn't been told yet as his PMS is away from school all week. Of course, the suspense is killing my son.

Tons of posts over on Reddit dot com with Cadets posting what they branched along with their OML scores so it's actually interesting and helpful. I've seen some kids get their 10th choice and others that did ADSO for (2) separate branches and not get either one of them.

Nofoson just heard he branched AR with MI. Very brief conversation but they were his first and second choices.

It's crazy looking at the posts on Reddit. On one hand, it's crazy to see some people with an OML score of 50 getting their 1st Choice of MI with **NO** ADSO while others with an OML of 62 are getting their 9th or 10th choice and they ADSO'd for stuff they didn't get. Now I'm hopeful that this is because they are actually READING the evaluations from the PMS and other officers & cadre that were turned in over the past (3) years. Maybe it's possible that these guys getting their 10th choice with a OML of 62 had good grades but maybe didn't get stellar leadership ratings on their evals? One can hope...

It likely has something to do with the talent management assessment that was done by cadets starting with this class.

I have no idea but I can tell you with 100% certainty that the written evaluations of the PMS, C/O at CTLT or C/O at CULP were taken into account or had little bearing on the actual assignments handed out.

K2, can you explain why the evaluations have little bearing on the outcome? I get the feeling that the OML criteria was turned upside down this year?

With all of these new tests and assessments this year it can seem that Cadet Command is trying to reinvent the wheel. It will be interesting to see the percentages for this years class for how many received one of their top 3 choices, last year the percentage was high but this is the first year with the new OML.

I think a lot of cadets do not realize that the Army also wants new 2LT's that received excellent evals and recommendations to be placed in every branch. It's understandable that cadets with these high marks will question why they didn't get one of their top choices, but in the end the Army sometimes selects them for certain branches because of their excellent evals. These officers tend to thrive in these positions.

Good luck to the cadets waiting...this is even bigger than scholarship boards in a lot of ways.

DS leaves 11/29 for BOLC. The ride continues :).

My wife and I got early morning phone calls this morning which are usually are a cause for the heart to stop beating. (Early morning phone calls are usually not good, actually phone calls from DS are usually not good). DS informed me that he was told he branched Corps of Engineers which was his first choice. Now I sort of zoned out for a while since last Spring he had decided to go National Guard. I had assumed that he would get a branch based on a unit that he found that needed him. So can anyone enlighten me as to what is actually happening at this point? Is this the time that cadets find about if they are AD and their branch? I guess I thought that already happened. Thanks for your assistance, this forum ha really helped through the years.

He probably was already told weeks ago whether he is being assigned to National Guard or active duty. Just a guess. Congratulations on the Engineers branch! That's great!

Agree with JCleppe. Trying to game exactly how Cadet X with YY OML points got Z branch while Cadet T with UU OML points got V branch is pointless. The army is still going to force higher ranked cadets into less desirable branches to "spread the wealth" so to speak. If our "best" new LTs all got MI and everyone left over got everything else we'd have our smartest folks making coffee in a secret office while everyone else was trying to keep the army going.

Regardless of OML points and what we preach on here about doing your best, it is always needs of the Army. Sometimes your needs and be Army's needs just match up.

Other than that, congrats to everyone (or their kids) on the branches they will soon be joining (still need to graduate, commission, and finish BOLC).
