AROTC Scholarship Concern/Question

Again, thank all for the comments and advice.

I really want to do well on the first Army PFA, so.. I plan to workout harder than I ever have this coming month before January hits.

What do you guys think of this plan?
Over the month, I plan to go to the gym twice a day, eat heathily, and between those 2 gym sessions, use the military pushup-situp workout regimen that everyone apparently uses. I would then alternate these days with running around 5 miles, twice a day for a total of 10 miles.

Is this overkill, or is it just enough to push my body to the limit?

Thank you!

Way over kill, especially the running. There is absolutely no reason to run twice a day or even 5 miles at a time for that matter. Remember, your goal is to run 2 miles as fast as you can, so running 5 miles often is pointless. I would say 4-5 running workouts a week for the next month is good. One day a two mile run for time, one day some intervals or hill workout, 1 day a 2-3 mile run, and one day a 3-4 mile run, but be consistent for the next month. It is okay to run most days if you feel up to it, but consistency and training smart is way more important than how many miles you put on.

And please strength train once a day, please. Getting yourself injured before your test is not going to help you. Alternating days is fine, or you can double up a run and strength training on some days if it works out better but try to get a few days of rest a week, like Sunday and Wednesday for example. PM if you have more questions, my daughter came back from an international mission trip and had to take her APFT a month later and was pretty out of shape, did a similar run schedule as above and maxed her run with a personal best time first try. I also have a pretty extensive background in exercise science and performance training so feel free to message me anytime.

For AF-ROTC: The High School Scholarship Application period for high school students graduating in 2017 closed on December 1.

Hi again all,

For on-campus/college scholarships for current undergraduates, what are the key dates to keep in mind for scholarships starting in Fall 2016?

Thank you!
