What are the conditions of the rooms? Are they air conditioned? And do they really have mice in Bancroft Hall?
 
Every room is connected to the a/c system. Like most large building that is old and full of people and food, there are mice. They're a nice distraction from the daily grind.
 
A/C in Bancroft is also a relative term for a large old building with lot's of people....especially during hot summer days/evenings...my mid always appreciates a small fan to assist in moving the VERY limited amount of cooled air reaching the upper decks of Bancroft.
 
AC = Bancroft = According to the brochure it is everywhere. AC = In the room = Maybe. If it sometimes works in the room they will figure out how to make it work all the time (cheat the thermostat) or leave the windows open. Mice will become their best friends or the mice will go NUKE, SCUBA or AIRBORNE. :thumb:
 
I heard the mention of a fan in the room - can they bring a fan over the summer for plebe summer - or is this a no-no?
 
No to the fan during plebe summer.

Most rooms have A/c but if your room doesn't have A/c during plebe summer don't expect it to get fixed while you're still in that room. Also, there is no A/c in the hallways except on 4th deck.
 
Can you see your son/daughter trying to lug a fan through Alumni Hall with Detailers (screaming) welcoming them on I-Day.:biggrin: Don't even think about that. My understanding is that they can bring nothing other than the listed items and possibly extra socks, broken in running shoes and extra underwear (extra sport bras for women). Laundry will be sketchy. For PPW my wife and daughter made reservations at a local SPA out at the Mall so they could work the "magic that they do" (facial, nails, etc...) before she had to return to the Yard. When my daughter reported back after PPW in her summer whites one of her squad mates told her "you clean up real good":yllol:. I think she hit him but I am not sure if it was a KO or TKO:biggrin:. For Plebe Summer they are all sweat, dirt and not feeling the AC even if the AC is working full blast.
 
They can bring sports equipment if they are trying out (or recruited) for a certain fall sport. Check with the individual sports or intermural coach, they may be able to store some of the stuff. Had to send a lot of sports gear down in the "Care Packages" after PLEBE SUMMER and it wasn't easy. Luckily we don't live that far away and could deliver the big things on a drive down.:thumb: Cleats, sticks etc...
