Band Co Parents

I have embarrassed my midshipman by emailing everybody at the academy with regards to the Band Company's schedule for Parents Weekend. Today I received this schedule - hope it helps some of you.

I still am not sure if any of the Band CO gets overnight liberty on Saturday.

Sequence of Events for Parents Weekend:

Friday 9/11/09

0725 9/11 Ceremony at War Memorial
1845 Muster in Ackerman with instruments
1925 Formed up ready to go in O’Hara for Beat Retreat
2130?? After Beat Retreat we will be going to Yocum for a small get together, Parents are welcome

Saturday 9/12/09

0900 Muster in band room for Acceptance day parade, all hands unless indoors, then selected midshipmen and Plebes
0930 Acceptance Parade
1335 Muster in band Room for Football game, we will distribute the combo blaster books and play through one or two
1355 Formed up on Steamboat for march on
1400 March on for Football Game
1630?? After playing Alma Mater at the end of the game liberty is granted for upperclass, Plebes stand by for instructions from your CTO

Sunday 9/13/09

0700 Muster for Battery Park Performance
0730 Leave for Battery Park
0900 Playing with Dutch
1200 Return to USMMA, Liberty until 2100 for all classes

Hey, thanks for the schedule! How did you get it? Anyway, I'm hoping and praying that the powers that be will allow our responsible sons and daughters to spend the night with us on Saturday and arrive in time for muster, but I've been told it probably won't happen. Maybe we can have them till 11 pm? 12pm? on Saturday instead? Sure can't wait to hear the Beat Retreat and the performance at Battery Park!

Disclaimer: This info came from my 3/C DD in Band Co. and was what she had heard a couple of weeks ago. Things change and someone could be mistaken.

There is chance that Plebes will have lib until 0600 Sunday morning. Don't hold your breath for that. I'm sure final info will be announced at Beat Retreat and/or the football game.

The get-together in Yocum after Beat Retreat was very nice last year. It is a chance to meet and chat with your plebe's company officers, team leaders, etc. It's informal and relaxed and the plebes get to have soda and cookies. IMHO, don't skip this.

Late breaking news

All Band Co will be dismissed after the football game Saturday. They have to be on the bus at 6:45 AM Sunday morning to go to Battery Park. After the performance - if they have notified the powers that be by email today or tomorrow they may go off on their own. There will bbe a company muster at 2100 Sunday night.
