20. Harris Ranch Steakhouse and Airport (private), Coalinga, CA. DH and I would rent a plane from Navy Flying Clubs at various CA duty stations from San Diego to San Francisco and fly in, or drive there. Great steaks, good sides, pilot favorite. $$$

Couldn't agree more about skipping the line at Matsumoto's. The Aloha General Store in Haleiwa HI is also a great place for Shaved Ice.
Killer Tacos is great for a quick Fish Taco, Haleiwa HI as well.

OMG! Opal Thai! The best! I heard they shut the truck down and opened a restaurant, true? Fond memories of hanging out under the trees while my kids played with the owner’s kid……
True, they have a Restaurant, it's in the shopping area by the drug store on the main drag in Haleiwa.

I first went there in 1983. It's still there, still great, still a fave for those stationed in Napoli. I took DH there just 3 years ago. DH and I would rent a plane from Navy Flying Club at Monterey, CA, when I was at Naval Postgraduate School, or drive over from San Francisco when we were at NAS Alameda and NAVSTA Treasure Island. Great steaks, good sides, pilot favorite. $$$

Colorado Mntn Brewery "catered" my son's squadron dinner at graduation and it was fantastic. They kindly "forgot" to charge for so much food - so many drinks - owner later told me it's his "thank you" for years of great relations with cadets and others at USAFA.
Copper Creek Restaurant in Abilene, TX, near Dyess AFB was great, too. $$
