What would be the best choice of major if I were to go into SEAL/EOD after the academy?

The consensus is probably that there is no "best" major but you want to excel in which ever major you choose. Strive to make the Superintendant's List - 3.4 GPA and A's in Conduct, PT and Military Performance - this will give you a better shot at receiving your first choice in service selection. Note that there is a lot more involved in getting selected for SEAL/EOD. Read some of the previous threads relating to SEAL selection.

What is the difference between SEALs and EOD in the sense of training?

Quite a bit. SEALs are training for warfare. EOD trains for bomb disposal - albeit in the most difficult of situations. As far as special schools and training go, both groups are able, and required, to attend several.

Not to mention the difference between BUD/S and all the EOD qualifiers (neither of which is anything to sneeze at).

With regards to major: given a quick scan of the guys from my class who are going SEALs, all three groups are sufficiently represented (engineering, sciences/math, humanities). Major doesn't really matter for SEALs. There's even one or two general science majors in there (general science=graduation major).
