For the first time since 2019 the Boston Marathon will be run timely this April, on Patriot's Day. Post COVID normalcy coming back.

The military-related Ruck March (26.2 milles with either 15 or 35 pound pack, combat boots, etc.) will also be conducted by miliary personnel, veterans, first reponders, etc. just before the normal marathon race.

My 21 year old DS will be in full uniform (35 lb. ruck!) at starting point in Concord, Massachusetts (where "Shot Heard 'Round The World" occured in 1775) with his fellow Army National Guardsmen. Says his goal is 6 hours. Good luck!

Please donate if you can. If not, cheer them on. It's all for a good cause.

After all, 26.2 miles is a helluva walk.

Several Mids qualified for Boston this year. I'm sure cadets from the other SAs have as well. As you mentioned, it's nice to see things getting back to normal.

Good Luck

Back in the dark ages before most of you were born I had convinced the Navy to give me basket-leave and pay my way to Boston from Lejuene to run in the race. It was then a sign up and go race not one you needed to qualify for.

I got approval in the morning and then saw an announcement in the afternoon asking for vols for an assignment we all knew as VN.

I truly regret never having run in that race.

But I have absolutely no regrets in not running that race in boots and with a ruck :)

The last 6 miles after Heartbreak Hill are a hell of a walk as well (once you blew your tank on the first 20 miles). Even though I approached my second Boston differently than my first, and was better trained overall, and the weather was so much better (first one was 2007 where they almost cancelled the race), I still ended up walking the same miles I did the year before.

Needless to say, I do not have fond memories of "running" Boston! The races I did to qualify were much better results! :p

BEST DAY EVER!!!! (But not with a ruck) I knew I had a special day when I PRd in 2019. What I didn't know was just HOW special given the chaos that the next two years would bring. Best of luck to all running and rucking in 2022. I'll see you next year :)
