Some TN HS do offer and encourage ASVAB testing, at least the ones who are military supportive. Some don't unless requested. Yes there is a space on the application. Yes high ASVAB scores on Service Academy applications are considered, "especially for NON sport recruits". The ASVAB tests cover general science, arithmetic reasoning, word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, numerical operations, coding speed, auto and shop information, mathematics knowledge, mechanical comprehension and electronics information. ASVAB tests are well rounded, encompassing "real" science vs ACT graphs for it's science test.Do high school kids in TN routinely take the ASVAB?
Is there a space on the application asking for the ASVAB score?
I don't know the answer - just never heard of it being something that mattered or was tracked in the nomination /appointment process
If my DD took it or was ever asked about it I would be surprised and she has an appointment to USAFA and USNA
She did attend Girls State which motivated her to apply to USNA. Also I think Corker and Alexander both attended Boys State - so if for no other reason - I would think they weigh it favorably during the nomination process because they were part of it
Congrats on the appointment to USNA.
