Between semester break
DS came home determined to continue his PT while on break. He is on the Endurance team and planned to run with a weighted pack as he does during Endurance PT. He pulled out my hiking backpack, loaded it with encyclopedias (yes, we still have a set on our book shelves!) and ran with the pack several times during his 3 week break. He also did runs without weight to allow for speed practice.
During Endurance PT the pack has 50 lbs and the 4 team members take turns carrying the pack. Since he had no one to hand the pack off to during his runs at home (maybe I should have offered? Not!), he loaded under 30 pounds in the pack.
He also made stops at the playgound down the street and worked on pull-ups. His first Endurance PT was yesterday and he was very happy with the results, especially his pull-ups.
We travelled out of state for a few days to visit family during the holidays. The rest of his time at home was spent sleeping, visiting friends, getting in appointments (he was happy to have us pay for a haircut), watching sports with DH and playing with his 2 yr old nephew. He and I actually talk more when he is at school than while he was home!
DS is excited that he has his first Nuclear Engineering class this semester. He is a squad leader for his Platoon, which doesn't sound like it will be very time-consuming, but is a baby step down the leadership path.
Thanks for the other updates. It is interesting to hear what your sons and daughters are up to at school and in their battalions.
